We are renewing our annual passes this month. We wont be going back until April.

How does it work when you renew??
Do we get a new voucher and have to go to a ticket booth before entering the park for the first time with the new pass?

Just wondering if its the same as when we purchased for the first time or if its a different process.

Thanks for the help!

It's been so long since I've renewed any way other than at a park. There you get a new ticket.

I think when I renewed online I printed something out and I needed an ID and the credit card used to purchase to go to a GS window at the park to pick it up. Or maybe I'm thinking of MNSSHP tickets?

When we renewed, we received a confirmation/voucher number. In our case it was the first 2 letters of each of our first names followed by 5 numbers. Take that number, the credit card you used to purchase the renewals, along with IDs for each guest to any ticket window at the 4 parks or Disney Springs to get your new passes. When renewing, your new passes start on the day after the expiration of your old passes and not the day you first actually use them. Hope this helps!

I have only renewed online. They charged me, mailed the new card & magic band. But my renewal date is 11-1 so maybe the process has changed?

Until I got my "new" card everything else acted like it always did. The only issue was at the parking lot cause it was expired. I was prepared to pay & then get a refund from Guest Relations, but the CM let me thru.

When we renewed, we had to specifically request new bands or they didn't get sent. We went one year without getting new ones but now have two sets that work fine. As long as the renewal is purchased with your MDE account, it should all be fine. You can get new cards at guest services when you go. We just showed ID's and they gave us new cards.

Just to add that each person will need to be physically present when you go to the ticket window. So, Mom or Dad can't take all IDs with him/her and do the process alone.

Your renewal will start the same day as the expiration of the previous pass. My AP expiration date is through December 8, 2016. No matter when I renew it (within the renewal window) or arrive at WDW to activate it, the new pass will be good through December 8, 2017. Even if I renew it in November 2016 but do not activate the new pass until April 2017, it would still expire at the end of December 8, 2017.

If there will be several months between the renewal date and the activation, it might be better to purchase a new pass - depending on when the passholder intends to go back to WDW within that year. If my pass expires December 8, 2016 and I won't be returning to WDW until May 10, 2017, I might prefer to have a pass that expires May 10, 2018 rather than one that expires December 8, 2017. Depends on scheduling of future visits.
