We bought our first passes last June and they are coming up for renewal.

Since this is our first time I was wondering how it works. To be honest I have never gotten ANY correspondence other than the magazine and even that I have gotten WAY after other people have.

So my question is IF I don't get a reminder e-mail what is the procedure to renew. I would RATHER not do it 6 weeks before for financial reasons (have a TON of stuff coming up in the next few months). Since we won't be in the parks again till July I was hoping to renew right before they expired.

Will I get something in the mail? Is it better to renew online, on the phone or via mail? I remember someone saying there were problems with one of those ways in the past.

I def don't want to wait till July though cuz I want the discount.

So any and all help would greatly be appreciated. THANKS!! :)

You'll get a reminder postcard type thing (IIRC, I know it's a piece of mail though) in the mail a few weeks before your due to expire. You can either use that and renew, or you can do it over the internet. I found online to be the easiest. Takes just a few seconds and no mailing or stamps are involved. :thumbsup2 When you renew your AP you'll get a small discount ($20 I think). Anyway, you can renew at anytime. Just go to www.disneyland.com and click on the section for AP holders. All your info, including your expiration date and renewal options, are there.

That's what I thought. Thanks sooo much! I heard they sent you an e-mail and I have gotten NOTHING and was afraid I would miss.

Plus I thought I heard someone say online it didn't work well or something which is the way I prefer to do it. I assume I could wait and renew right up till a few days before if I did it online correct?

That is the way I prefer to do it. Then I assume they use your old pic and send you the new passes in the mail?

Yes, they use your old pic, and you get your new card in the mail. :) You will be getting something in the mail about a month before your renewal. It will show you AP choices (that you only get if you renew early) and you can get them by mail or on line. Although my AP's came in good time, I'm not sure if I would want to leave it to "just a few days" before your trip.

Since you're from California, remember that there is no discount for renewing a So.Cal AP. The discounts are only for Deluxe and up, as I recall. Although they may (or may not) still be sending a $10 Disney Gift card with your renewal.

Our passes expire on May 1st and we just received our renewal info the other day. They send out a brochure with the blockout calendars and the renewal invoice listing the discount if you renew by mail or online. So Cal passes don't have a discount but you'll receive a $10 Disney gift card if you renew before the expiration date. Deluxe and Premium receive a $20 discount. All levels have a choice of a special AP card if ordered before it expires.
