Well, last year I purchased a Premium Annual Pass. We figured we would be using the water parks a lot but alas, we didn't.
I just called to renew my annual pass as a DVC member and was hoping to get my discount but was told in no uncertain terms that because I only wanted a Regular Annual Pass this time, it was like purchasing an Annual Pass for the first time and I was S.O.L. Nice....

And yes, tomorrow is the day the prices go up. I was told $420 (with tax) for a Premium Annual Pass and $399 plus tax for a Regular. Does that make any sense?

I guess that being a DVC member allows you to lose out on Free DNP and park passes. I'm not very happy right now. It seems people without DVC get the good discounts. Is it just me?

:confused3

Not sure how this is a DVC thing...maybe I am missing something. It sounds like Disney is saying you have to "renew" your PAP to get the renewal price, if you wish to downgrade to a regular AP you would pay the "new" pass cost....they aren't taking away your discount, they are just saying you must keep your current type of pass.

I presume this means that if you were upgrading from a AP to a PAP, you also would have to pay the "new" issue price.

Hmmm. I just bought AP for our family and specifically looked into renewing a premium AP and whether or not you could get a regular AP at the renewal rate if you had a premium pass the year beofre. I was told that you could either upgrade or downgrade (depending on which AP you had) at the renewal rate.

When I purchased my PAP, I too, was told after the first year, if I wanted to downgrade to just the AP I was able to do that with no problem. Now, not so much.... :confused3

I guess maybe I should call and speak with a manager. I've received two different answers and several different prices on my two recent calls now.

Good news! DVC was wrong. I called Ticketing and spoke with Michael Hazzard and he said that indeed, you can upgrade or down grade and get the renewal rate if you are a dvc member.

He said that it takes cast members awhile to learn about the different rules and when I call back within my 30 day window to renew, if they don't let me purchase the AP renewal instead of the PAP renewal, I'm to call him and he will do it.

No worries..... Happy again! :rotfl:

That is great news! Thanks for posting back with the correct info. :thumbsup2

It is too bad you were given inconsistent answers...good thing you investigated further. Your persistence paid off!!:worship:

I was just scratching my head at first, b/c I've gone back and forth between reg and premium ap for years and have always received my renewal Florida resident rate. Glad it worked out!

Wow. That is disturbing to know that you could have paid alot more because someone did not know what was going on. Glad you looked into it and it worked out!

Can't you just renew online. I always do my renews this way. Of course I can't for my next one because we have the GAD vouchers and the renewals can only be done in person. I too was told a long time ago I could not renew and "down". I'm not surprised that the OP was given 2 different answers.
