Reneging Renters - How to deal with them?

Send the legal bill? Hold on to it. I don't think anyone will be willing to pay for the incompetence you have shown as the halmark of your work product.

I guess you too are so uncomfortable with this real problem that you want to digress into side issues. My reply is as follows:

I was not being nasty, read the posts by dalt01. I was being truthful. You obviously can't read or didn't bother to.

Actually, I don't work. I was badly injured by a drunk driver, and had to have neck surgery.

Fortunately, I had enough money saved to allow me to retire and deal with wonderful nice people like you.

Speaking of incompetence being a hallmark, you obviously have no conception of any of the legal principles involved here. You have no citation to back you up. Did you go to law school in outer mongolia?

I was able to cite the exact language in the Disney contract that you signed which supports my position. Nobody, even Webmaster Doc argues with my interpretation of the language that I cited in a subsequent post.

The hallmark of incompetence is an argument with absolutely no foundation. Your post fits that bill exactly.

The question in my mind is "Did you ever work?" or did you go through life making unjustifed, unsupported accusations?

It is a real pity that you don't put your energies into helping to solve a problem.

Why does a thread that starts with a question of renters who back out have to take on such an argumentative tone? Flame me if you will, but please stop this bickering! Yes, I can just stop reading further posts(and I will) but as someone from the "outside" looking in, I just wanted to point out how crazy this is getting.

I don't have the answer to the problems raised by the OP, however all things considered remember this: YOU OWN DVC...a dream that only a fraction of our society will ever attain. Through your actions, you reached this goal. This should be a blessing...

Disney could very easily put a stop to it but hasn't up to now.

I think that Disney cannot stop it for one person or group of people without stopping it for everyone.

Interesting that 100% of your DIS posts deal with renting points.... And of that, 90% are you offering points to rent. Seems that you are full on renting for your definition of profit. Why would you, as a lawyer no less, engage in something that you personally believe is a violation of the contract?

Maybe the new kid on the block should spend some time listening (reading) from those that have been around for a bit longer? Seems like most people here (and anywhere for that matter) are put off by the new guy coming in and telling us how we should conduct ourselves. In any professional or social circle, you have to pay your dues to offer the input you seem to want to offer. But you haven't paid yet. Get a grip.

Also, I have rented several times and have never been left holding a reservation, so no expereince with renters backing out. Guess maybe it's something in your delivery, huh? Kind of like your posts here. Someone kindly called them abrasive, which is too tame a description.

Given your inclination to belittle and offer flawed analysis, I don't think the lawyering thing is a good fit for you.

DVC loves to see owners rent out points. Talk about a free way to get a potential buyer right at your doorstep. Why in the world would dvc want to stop having owners rent to potential buyers?

I also suspect dvc loves to see owners wanting higher rental prices, that makes BUYING look better to the potential customer.

I did read dalt01's post. It was very clear to me what he said, the point he was making. No problem.

Law school in Outer Mongolia? Seems to be a better school than you attended. I hear they don't accept students with no personal skills.

TCPluto, you are a blatant liar and I have just caught you at it. Below is the post where a renter reneged on you and you had to re-rent the ressie.

In looking at you other posts, you consistent belittle other people, lie, misrepresent and try to distract from the real issue.

Are you that insecure that you do nothing except try to make yourself important by belittling others?

Can't you as a "veteran" come up with something creative to fix a problem that you yourself has been burned with?

We had a renter cancel due to a family matter and now have a BWV preferred view (waitlisted for BW view) available.

Check in on Sunday June 4th, check out on Friday June 9th, 2006, for a total of 5 nights/6 days.

Disney has this reservation right now for $1923.40.

We will rent this for much less than half of Disney's rate.

Once again, I offer two comments:

1. "Never wrestle with a pig in the mud -- you'll just get dirty and the pig will love it."

2. The Ignore List feature of this site works like a charm.

Just go to your User CP, scroll down to the Buddy/Ignore List link, enter the offensive party's screen name, and click Update List. Poof! Gone. You'll be amazed how enjoyable the DIS becomes again.

(Seems like we just did this before the recent well-deserved bannings, doesn't it?)

It would seem that any owner can do what buyers are currently doing. Take a deposit, make a reservation than shop that reservation around to see if he could get a better price.

As long as the owner refunds the money, he wouldn't be doing anything that is against any published policy of disboard as far as that thread seems to state.

However, I just wanted you to confirm that !! It seems that you have, Thank You.

I don't think Doc confirmed this in his response, that's your twisted wishful thinking that wouldn't even work in a court of law.

As well, I've never seen this done. But who am I to say, I've only been here for 3-4 years. It could have happened. It's just that there's no evidence of it.
