Just returned from a 7 night stay at the Renaissance. If you have a car you will LOVE the location of this hotel. The hotel is just off of 192 but sits a block north, far enough away from the chaos of 192. Ask the bellman for the back way to Disney and you won't ever have to go back out onto 192. It is the second closest hotel to Animal Kingdom with the closest being the AK Lodge. The location of the hotel really gives you the feeling of being on site, very uncrowded back road (Sherberth Road) up to Osceola Parkway. It seems that this road is primarily used by Disney cast members, but it is a public road so take advantage of it! It's easy to find your way back to the hotel from any Disney park by following the signs to the Animal Kingdom Lodge, then turning left when you reach the AK Lodge entrance. Sorry, we did not use the shuttle so I have no information on that subject. Our room on the sixth floor had a distant view of the Epcot fireworks, the Tower of Terror, Blizzard Beach and the Earful Tower. The room had two double beds and the TV was situated in the corner which really opened up the floorplan. Room amenities included a refrigerator, coffee maker, safe, iron & ironing board, USA Today, dataport, two telephones, shower with tub (unlike the Hyatt Orlando)and hair dryer. There are two pool locations, water was pleasantly warm. We requested the south tower adjancent to the children's pool, not a wading pool just 3-4' deep. Towels are poolside. The north tower rooms would probably have a good view of the Tree of Life at AK. The food court has irregular hours but offers coffee, muffins, and Pizza Hut pizza. If no one is working behind the counter, go to the bar and they will assist you. The staff is very accomodating and seemed to be pleased that their hotel had been purchased by Marriott. Disney's Resort Merchandise offices are adjacent to the hotel and Disney had a meeting in the Renaissance while we were there. I think you will enjoy your stay, especially for the price!
