Just got this hotel on a Priceline bid for our last night in Orlando. Anyone been there recently and know the status of the rennovations? They sounded pretty scary on some of the Trip Advisor reviews.

I'm interested as well.
I won this hotel on Hotwire for a night's stay at the end of July. Any recent observations ? Thanks :)

When are you staying at the Rennaisance SB in KY ?

I'll be there on July 27 and would be glad to post a report if you're staying after that date. We'll have a laptop with us so I can report even before I get home on Aug 8. Let me know.

I thought I read somewhere that the construction/remodeling would be complete by June 30. I hope so.

MiaSRN62...sounds like your trip is almost the same dates as ours...we are flying down 7/27..our flight arrives late so we are staying at the Hyatt in the airport (also on a Priceline bid) and then we are leaving on 8/10 and are spending the last night at the Renaissance by the airport before an AM departure.... sounds like you got the Renaissance for your first night there.

Have a great trip. Thanks for the offer of a quick on site review....but I think I may just leave the laptop at home this time if I can get all of my work caught up before we leave...the thought of 2 weeks of total vacation is REALLY appealing!

Yep ! We are flying down Friday night 7/27 :thumbsup2
I really wanted the Hyatt, but since we probably wouldn't get to the room until about 10:30 pm or 11 pm, I didn't think the $199/night was worth it (we'd have it for all of about 10 hours). Though I would have loved to stay here. When I went for the Hotwire bid, I was secretly hoping I'd get lucky and get the Hyatt, but I knew in my heart it wasn't going to be because that's a tough one to get. I got the Rennaisance for $59/night so I'm not complaining....it's only a place to plop for our first night before officially starting our vacation on Saturday.

So you won a PL bid for the Hyatt ?! Lucky you. What was your rate, may I ask ? Enjoy you're two weeks ! You are two extra days than us. My husband needs to keep up with work correspondence---that's why we drag the laptop along.
Have a great vacation SB in KY :yay:

I just won a PL bid for tomorrow night at the Hyatt. I bid $46. It looks beautiful!

We got the Hyatt for $45 for the first night on a Priceline bid and we got the Renaissance for our last night also on a Priceline bid, but I think I had to go up to $49 or 50 before I got that one...I kind of forget because I did it several weeks ago. If I had my choice I would have preferred the Renaissance the night we arrived and the Hyatt our last night, but oh well....both times it is just someplace to cresh for the night and shower and dress the next AM. And for those prices I won't be too picky.

Have a great vacation...I can hardly wait!

OMG Sara and Sherrie ! :faint:

You guys rock with the bidding....don't know how you do it ? :worship:

Many congrats........

Believe me -- pure luck!!!!

Looking forward to seeing the Hyatt tonight. My boys can't wait to go swimming tomorrow morning before we leave for our relatives' house.

Actually I love the convienence of the Hyatt inside the airport, but the rooms are really tiny and all of the other hotels near the airport we have gotten on Priceline are really nicer and have bigger rooms. They also have efficient shuttle service so I never really mind all that much getting an off airport hotel in Orlando.

Wow.....the pics on the Hyatt website make the rooms look sort of large ?
I am hoping the rooms at the Rennaisance are decent. And I really hope their shuttle is good. We are getting into the Orlando airport about 9:30 pm. We're hoping to be in our room no later than 11 pm after retrieving our luggage. So I'm counting on that shuttle not keeping us waiting. Do you (or anyone) happen to know where you call for the shuttle ? Is it down by the luggage pickup ?

There is a bank of courtesy phones down by the luggage carousels...just find the number for the Renaissance on the phone bank, tell them which airline you just arrived on and they will tell you where to go to wait for the shuttle (the pick up places are numbered and are down one level)...they are usually very prompt (lots of flight crews stay at those airport hotels and they do not react kindly to waiting a long time for pick ups!!).

I am betting if you get off the plane at 9:30 and do not have trouble getting your luggage, you will be in your room at the Renaissance before 10:30!!

awesome....thanks SB in KY ! I appreciate it. We're coming in on Southwest.

I stayed at the Renaissance last month. It was fine. You enter the building from the back entrance into the elevator lobby. The check-in was down a hallway to the right in a meeting room. The hotel lobby and restaurant were closed off, guest access was just for the check-in meeting room, fitness room, and pool area.

Here are some room pictures: http://www.wdwinfo.com/photopost/showgallery.php/cat/750 We were on the second floor.

Thanks for the pictures. The construction is slated to be complete in July but I am expecting to still be minus the lobby when we arrive, but it isn't a big deal for 1 overnight.

I am so thinking about doing Priceline for one night. We arrive very late, like 1 am. Out Disney trip really doesn't start till the next day. I'm really looking for something cheap-like $50 or so for the night. I really want the Hyatt because it's so easy once you land. Is there any way to make the option easier that it will come up. If I say go to $60 will that help????
