Remy's Ratatouille Adventure and Motion Sickness *SPOILERS*

I take meclizine (generic Dramamine) before most days at WDW. Very inexpensive as a generic. My motion sickness can come on as a headache, upset stomach or tiredness. I tolerate the meds very well so just play it safe as most parks have one or two rides that can set me off.

Thanks for the heads up. Star Tours makes me sick, and many rides at Universal make me sick. For me, its the combination of the motion with the 3D glasses, if something is even slightly off - I get nauseous and have a major headache very quickly. Gringotts ride ruined the rest of the day for me at IOA. Star Tours has been hit and miss, but usually miss to the point where I just skip it now.

I will be wary of this ride, and may just ride it with my eyes closed during the 3D parts.

Yes, this will be a pass for me as well!

On another topic, how is Remy compared to ROTR? Should I skip that also? I generally do not do well with screen rides. I got sick from FOP and Smuggler's Run. I'm fine on most outdoor coasters.
I rode ROTR. I got a bit nauseous, but felt better within about 20 minutes. I will probably never ride it again (but I COULD, if I wanted to... with Dramamine). FOP, Smuggler's Run and Star Tours are "no way" for me. Note: my daughter who got sick on Remy absolutely loves ROTR. She's ridden ROTR at least 10 times and it's never made her sick in the least. She couldn't believe that I got sick on it.

This is what I take as well, gotta help keep my ear crystals in place 😁 Also let's me do ToT without issue, have problems with up and down rather than spinning.

Trying make some plans for our upcoming trip.
We really would like to try the new ride, but we are worried about motion sickness.
Opinions?

Not really comparable rides. Remy is not a motion simulator. Does Toy Story Mania bother you, assuming you havent ridden MMRR yet as those are nearly the same ride?

Toy Story does not bother us. We haven’t ridden MMRR yet.

I would suggest riding MMRR first and seeing if you're okay. In my mind, MMRR shouldn't give you issues - there's no 3D to deal with. But if it did give you issues, I might pass on Remy.

Remy, for me, was mostly okay. A little bit of motion sickness afterward, but not terribly so.

There was one scene that caused me the most issues. While trying not to spoil anything: there's a section that's reminiscent of the scene in the movie when Remy is running through the walls. (It's later in the ride, and should be relatively obvious that it's coming.) The 3D imagery during that section was really close to the vehicle, and the quick movement on the screen caused me some issues. If you can either close your eyes during that section (or maybe one-eye it), it'd probably help.

Some folks reported issues with one spot earlier in the ride where the vehicle does a 360 spin. I got around that by using that move that ice skaters use when they spin - I kept my head (and eyes) facing the screen until I couldn't hold it there any longer, then turned my head all the way around to face the screen again. No issues for me with that.

Thank you for all the tips. We have Epcot reservations booked before HS so we won’t be able to ride MMRR first. Thanks for info on which part caused some problems. We can just beware of those.

I threw up after eating at Garden Grill bc of the rotation so Remy sounds like a no.
My husband had to leave our Garden Grill dinner early for the same reason. He can do some other rides, though, so I'm not sure how to advise him on this.

I get motion sick easily, especially from screens and movies, so I always take a Bonine each evening, starting the day before check in and stopping the day after I get home. So long as I am consistent with doing that, I don’t have issues. I rode Remy on my check in day for the AP preview, and rode it twice in close succession, and I did not have any issues. However, I know from my past history that if I had not had the Bonine in my system, I would have been sick. It has a kind of side to side motion that in conjunction with the screens would have made me very ill. If you have a remedy that you know works for screen or swaying attractions, it should work here.

I am scared of Remy and FoP. I can do Star Tours and Soaring but I got sick on Dinosaur and Back to the Future. Cruises are a big fat nope for me.

I will take bonine the night before and wear a sea band because Remy looks adorable. And..I like cute.
