Remy Ride and Harmonious?

So - I stopped following closely all thing WDW since we were not going to visit until next June (we were just there in March - and it was just too crowded and hot for our liking). Our 7-night cruise was shortened to 4 nights, so now we are thinking about sneaking in a short trip right before the 50th (9/29-10/1). Are they holding off on general opening for Remy ride and Harmonious until the weekend or is there a chance we could ride on those dates? Thoughts on crowds? Do I need to learn about this Genie thing? (I was really hoping to avoid all of that stress till next year). Would you do it or just wait?

There's been no confirmed start gate for Genie.

Remy's official grand opening is Oct. 1.
