We booked Remy for our last night on the Fantasy. I figured that by then we would have eaten all the rotational dinings at least once, and pirate night probably wouldn't be that night. Is there anything we will be missing by opting out of "normal" dinner that night?

Will it be challenging to work around luggage handoff times or anything like that? Our dinner isn't until 8 so I know it will be a late night.

We have figured out that we love the last night at Remi/Palo. We are all packed before we go for dinner and put our luggage out before we leave. We think it is great to end the cruise on a high note.

What you will miss is our servers in the main dining room telling you in length how important it is to give them an excellent rating on the comment card. We don't mind missing that. We do say goodbye to them the evening before though. The tips are automatically charged to them, so you don't need to give them the tip envelopes that DCL provides. If we want to adjust the amounts, we do that at guest services.

One thing you might miss is the second night in Animator's Palette. There are two different shows in that restaurant. And many people love the second one where you draw your own character that will come to live. We do not enjoy it, so we always request a rotation with AP on the last evening. If you do not want to miss it, you can call DCL and request a rotation that has you in one of the other dining rooms that last night. If you booked through a travel agent, the agent needs to put in that request.

Oh and one drawback: You do get a box of chocolates as a thank you for eating at Remi (at least that's what we got on our last Fantasy cruise in 2016, they might have abolished it by now). You will be so full after the meal, that you won't be able to eat them. Whether you can take them off the ship is a grey area as food is not allowed off. But there is an official exception for candy, biscuits etc. if it is in its original package.

You will miss seeing your dining team for the last time. Given the time, you may need to leave the luggage out for pick up. Don't forget to leave yourself out sleepwear and clothing for the next day as well as any medications etc you will need.

I am always pretty full by the end of the cruise, and I don't want to feel like not eating at Remy, especially since you are paying extra. I also don't want to hassle with trying to put nice clothes in a carry-on. We prefer to be packed up and just have the essentials out in our room for that night and the next morning. We tend to go to bed a little early that night. We usually spend it packing.

My husband and I did this on our Dream cruise in November. We carried our luggage off ourselves (just our preference), and we made sure to drop off envelopes for our servers before heading up to Remy (we popped in at the beginning of the first dinner service). It was honestly such a great way to end our cruise as the food and service really knocked it out of the park. I would do it again in a heartbeat (but I might pack my bags BEFORE imbibing in the drink pairing next time!).

I just pretty much feel like crashing on a chair/couch in the atrium after getting the wine pairing there :rotfl2: It's hard to make it back to the cabin.

Definitely going to skip any alcohol at Remy beyond maybe one glass of champagne. Alcohol just doesn't sit right with me anymore.

I am with some of the other posters, I am so full and so tired on the last night. We ended up getting
Palo brunch on the last day, and I’m a little nervous about that, but it was the only availability. I like the idea though of being packed and ready to go, spending the last night packing is pretty depressing.

Palo brunch is limited in offering. On our next sailing in May we only could get palo brunch on the last day (sea day) and we got an early time of 11:30 which was okay with us since we have early dining time for dinner. Hopefully we can enjoy the brunch and not be too full from a week on the ship already.

Pro tip. Don't hand off you luggage. Unless you have a bunch of big bags you physically can't handle yourself. Best to keep them yourself and skip the hide and seek game when you get off the boat.

I always feel rushed on the last night by having to pack. I wouldn’t want to add Remy on top of that.

Also I wouldn’t want to miss the second AP show.

What is the 'second AP show'?

That isn't going to always be on Night 7 for everyone- right? Should I call to see if they can put us on a rotation where we won't miss that?

We also booked Remy our last night on the 7 night EC Fantasy this month.

2 shows in AP - "Crush" - where you talk to the turtle from Finding Nemo and "Animation Magic" - where you draw pictures and they are animated up on the screen. I think most people are referring to the Animation Magic one. Crush is kind of annoying.
Well technically we have early dining so I guess we could just go and have a drink and still do the show, then do Remy :)

Right, only about 1/3 of guests will have that dining rotation. The others will be at Enchanted Garden or Royal Court for the final night. You can call to request a specific dining rotation, but unless you're concierge, there's no guarantee.

(They will not be very interactive the following morning at disembarkation breakfast; somewhat rushed with 2 seatings).
I've never found that to be true, but I always have second breakfast. They're usually willing to sit around and chat until the final debarkation call. I very much enjoy this part of what's otherwise a not great morning!

On a lot of cruises, castaway is the last day. We are usually tired from all the sun and swimming and packing suitcases and the last thing I’d want to do is dress up and go out for a special dinner that night.
