Do you feel a Vegetarian will enjoy their experience at Remy and Palo?
Are there plenty of options to make it worth the time and price?

Thank you for asking this. I've been wondering, and now my husband has become a vegetarian so I'm doubly curious.

I'm a vegetarian! I can't comment on Remy, but finally ate at Palo last September. It was amazing! Definitely one of the top 5 meals I've ever had in my life!

I've done Palo brunch and DH and I did Palo dinner, and we had plenty of nice food as ovo lacto vegetarians.

I do steer clear of most desserts since Disney tends to use gelatin in them, and I don't love asking about it. So I get the non-mousse-looking things. I also don't ask about cheese ingredients when at restaurants; I'm very careful at home, though. (and I don't get things with very aged cheddar, etc)

Vegetarian, yes. For vegans, not so much although I feel If you had money to burn they could make it interesting, if not as filling. I do think a large amount of their deserts likely contain gelatin but I hadn't asked about that last visit.

I'm a vegetarian and I found brunch at Palo to have more options for me than dinner. Especially if you are lacto-ovo. Brunch was absolutely incredible. I also steer clear of anything mousse-like but that's also partly because I find anything of that texture very off-putting. I don't eat mousse, yogurt, pudding, creme brûlée or anything like that. I could have eaten those dark chocolate covered strawberries all day. (We also had chocolate covered strawberries delivered to our room, but they were definitely not on the same caliber as the ones from Palo.)

This post on Disney Cruise Line Blog has a lot of photos of the items at brunch so you can see what you might like: http://disneycruiselineblog.com/2013/02/palo-champagne-brunch-review/

I had a lot of the pickled vegetables (mushrooms, artichoke hearts, red peppers, etc.) with the fresh arugula, balsamic and the cheeses. I also enjoyed many of the breads, fruits and pastries. I did order the artichoke ravioli from the brunch menu and while it was good, I'm not sure I needed it after all the other items I enjoyed from the buffet.

As far as Palo dinner, we've been twice and it was fine, but my favorite part of the meal was the antipasti which is pretty much brunch. I'm just not as wowed by the limited menu items I've tried. Maybe they just aren't as good at the veg stuff off the menu. The chocolate souffle is great, though.

Vegetarian options at Palo are a little limited, but what's there is excellent. The gnocchi and mushroom risotto especially are to die for. Their caprese salad and butternut agnolotti are also extremely good. So simple foods but very fresh ingredients that are prepared very well.

I wish the mushroom risotto tasted as good as it does in the cooking class. They are completely different! They changed it in Palo, but didn't change it in the cooking class and it's a MILLION time better the old way. i have no idea why they did that.

This is my worry--I'm lacto ovo but have an allergy to mushrooms, and a lot of chefs love to give vegetarians mushrooms!! I'm hoping that if I were to eat at Remy that it might be like when I ate at California Grill--Chef came to table and after talking to me about what I liked, sent the most delicious dinner of basically all the sides that were on the plates with the meats, even rounding up tofu from somewhere. But I don't really want to eat just another "pasta" dish that I could get anywhere. Will have to give it a try!

Make sure that your mushroom allergy is noted on your reservation. In your case I'd also have them note your dietary restriction (though you might need to spell out what lacto-ovo means as not everyone does) so that they can know they might have to do more than normal special prep for you.

You will definitely not get "just another pasta dish" at Remy. As Dug720 said, make sure to stop by Remy to have your requirements noted on your reservation. Your server should check on them with you when you are seated, and you will get a fabulous meal that meets those requirements. When my husband and I (dined there a few months ago, we noted no meat or shellfish for either or us, no bell peppers for him, and no mushrooms for me. The chef didn't come out in advance, but did stop by midway through our meal to make sure we were happy (which we most certainly were). I think he appreciated the chance to do something different for us.

Given that the poster stated an allergy - not an aversion - to mushrooms, I'd recommend calling and putting that on the reservation period so that the MDR servers are aware of it as well.

But I don't really want to eat just another "pasta" dish that I could get anywhere.

I had gnocchi with a lemon scented sauce and lemon foam (no, it wasn't a dessert) at Remy our first time. I guarantee it is not a pasta dish you could get anywhere. I usually find gnocchi to be fairly heavy but it was light and fluffy and tart and savoury and delicious. I'm not vegetarian but if they can make a gnocchi that amazing, I can imagine that they could do an entirely vegetarian menu that would be amazing. And not all would be pasta but the pasta that they do is better than any I've ever had.

This is exactly the kind of thing I'm excited for! I'm with you in that a lot of gnocchi is heavy so anyone who can pull off a fluffy pillow of deliciousness is definitely a dish to try! Now I'm hungry :P

I'm thinking of trying the butternut agnolotti. The description sounds very good to me.

A friend of mine had a vegetarian meal at Remy the same night we were there with my dad in November. She said it was amazing.
