Removing the sorcerer's hat at DHS?

I cannot imagine WDW will do away with Mickey's Sorcerer's Hat totally for the simple reason it is now being featured in Disney's "Once Upon A Time" show as of last Sunday's episode. Did anyone else notice this besides my DD and me?

Maybe it will be moved to the front of DHS instead.

I suspect that any love/hate divide on the hat has to do with whether you visited before it was there.

Much like Barney Stinson's Ewok Line on HIMYM.

I agree with this I also think this is the case for those who like Main Street Electrical Parade Vs. Spectromagic.

I for one wish the hat would go.

I'll go halvsies on that with you. I absolutely love MSEP and have a vivid memory of watching it with my family when I was 5. I'm beyond happy that I get to revisit it each year.

I am, however, disappointed that Spectromagic is no more. I wish they could have kept it up for return appearances now and again. I only caught this one live once, and my family was in a rush to get elsewhere rather than to see it again.

Since the season premiere, actually.

I'm putting my flame suit on...

But I don't like the look of the Chinese theater (GMR) at the end. The hat is way better of a look than the theater. In my opinion the hat is the logo of Hollywood Studios.

I can remember how special a time it was when we went for the first time in 2004. Had an incredible time with my family. It was "Magical" It has certainly gone downhill the last couple of years. Yes I know its a buisiness but seems like it is more directed toward that the special times. I don't see the little special things that I can remember that time. The people that are going for the first time now don't see it so they won't miss it. We are DVC members and when we joined we told everyone how wonderful it was and they should join..... Can't say that anymore. People that have gone on our recomendation wonder why they didn't get the same feeling. This is just another case of why! I hope it isnt true but wouldn't be surprised. Maybe time to stop going.

Finally it's official after years of rumors disney is finally going to be doing what many have wanted the hat is leaving. Hopefully this is only the start of big things for DHS.

I was just about to post that story. Guess I'll get my last few pics next week. Good riddance. :cool1:

Here's to the new future of MGM!

I have never been without the hat, but will be glad to see it go. It is so disruptive to the theme: being immersed in early 20th century Hollywood

The imagineers worked so hard to recreate the architecture of the period, it always seemed a shame to me to put that great big hat smack-dab in the middle of it.

For details on the real buildings that inspired the architecture on the park's Hollywood Blvd/Sunset Blvd areas see this link: Inspiration for DHS

Well the hat was originally temporary but just never got taken down. It was put up in 2001 as part of the 100 years of magic celebration. I have also never been without the hat but will be glad to see it go.

This news is so great i will be so happy to see the hat gone and the park going back tot he original look. If all of these other things that are glossing are any indications i am hoping for some real big news to be coming soon about a major update to DHS. I am even looking forward to my trip to Disney in a few weeks now. :)

I really want to get this out but I know people will pass this up. My fireproof suit is already on:
I'm a bit younger than I assume the average age on the site here, so honestly I don't even remember there ever being an era without the hat before I came across old pictures. To make matters worse: I'm a big Fantasia fan, especially a fan of the Sorcerer's Apprentice and everything Sorcerer Mickey. So to me the hat was bliss. It held a lot of meaning to me. Even after realizing the hat never really did fit I still accepted it because to me it wasn't the hat itself that was bad, it was the location. I noticed how the hat at All-Star Movies blended in perfectly but this one didn't once I got older but I didn't care. The only thing that is actually getting me through this is knowing how many better things are down the road for this park. I may ask Disney for a piece of the hat because like I said its sentimental to me, but I doubt that would happen. I just wanted to get that out there

I think most people would agree, it wasn't the hat itself (which IMO was done MUCH more tastefully than the crappy wand over Spaceship Earth), it was the location, which destroyed a great view of what people consider to be "classic hollywood".

If they had the hat nearly anywhere else in the park, it would have been ok with most people I think.

I've been hoping that the hat would be removed but I would love it if it was installed somewhere else. I agree that it's out of place but the hat itself is nice.

I agree move that hat and lots of people are very happy. It's like putting the hat in front of the castle.
