Removing high ISO noise.

Someone mentioned a sofeware program that was excellent in removing the noise from using high ISO settings.

It's not the one you are thinking of, but Lightroom is excellent at noise removal, especially if working with raw.

Noise Ninja and Topaz Denoise are both good. Lightroom and ACR's built in NR is also pretty good now.

Are any of them run alone software, or do you have to has Adobe or another software for them to run with?

LR stands alone. They have a trial version you can sign up for online. If you decide to buy it and have a student in the home, find an educational software seller online for the best deals.

Yes and yes. Betas are out of the new version at this time also.

The versions are identical. And they are very lenient in terms of the education discount. A child in kindergarten qualifies.

Out of curiosity, I just downloaded the trial version of Topaz denoise. It's impressive... I'd say it's *slightly* better than Lightroom. Of course, Lightroom does far far more than just remove noise.

Don't think it stands alone. I'm using it as a plugin for Lightroom.

I'd definitely take Lightroom if only purchasing one. But I use it for far more than noise reduction: file management, raw conversion, batch editing, exposure corrections, basic editing and effects.
I doubt I'll keep topaz Denoise on top of it. But I do own topaz adjust.

Lightroom 4 is good removing noise but i have to tell you I am very impressed with Nik Define2. It has the ability to analyze the photo and add noise reduction to specific parts of the photo where it detects excessive noise. I have been using that since i purchased the complete collection a few weeks ago.

Define is not a stand alone program. It's a plugin for Lightroom and photoshop

You really don't need anything besides lightroom.
I currently have Topaz Denoise on a trial. It's slightly better than lightroom -- but very slight.
