Well............I'm back..
Ummm..what can I say? Gosh - I hardly know where to begin - except to say that DD should have told me to take the valium with a bottle of booze..
It was...ah.."interesting".. Yeah - that's a good word.. I don't think I have ever been anywhere quite like it.. I did manage to find "a" spot in the 2-car garage for the things I brought down this trip.. "Next" trip is going to be tricky.. Very, very tricky..
As for the rest of the house................ Well - there's definitely some reconstruction/remodeling going on - over, under and around the boxes..
The paint stick they brought up here with the color of my granddaughter's room did not do it justice at all.. There's "pink" and then there's
pink!! The carpet was laid just this morning (also pink) and I think from this point on it will forever more be referred to as "The Pepto-Bismol Room"... They weren't kidding when they said that with all the lights off in her room at night the "pink" can be seen "glowing" under the door.. Yowser!!!!!!!!! I do believe she is going to need sunglasses to sleep in there..
DD & her DH's bedroom would probably be best described as the "Dunkin Donuts 2 Sugars And Just A Dab Of Cream Room".. Nice if you're into dark colors and will probably look great with the moose/bear rustic theme they're going to use in there..
The "half" of a lighthouse mural on the bathroom wall is really nice - but it was kind of hard to get a good look at it thru the plastic that is currently covering it.. Ditto for all the doors in the house - they're also covered with plastic.. I'm sure there's a logical reason for it.. Meanwhile it gives the whole house that cozy "all wrapped up for winter" feel..
The only thing I can say about the living room is that now I understand completely why my granddaughter was so
totally shocked when I told her there was a fireplace in there.. If I hadn't cleaned it myself before they moved in,
I wouldn't know it was there either!
Gotta love the downstairs family/laundry/office/bar/room.. It's to die for.. What really sets it apart from other family/laundry/office/bar rooms is the 4-ply plastic sheeting on the floor as opposed to your everyday run-of-the-mill carpeting.. It's really great how they've taken this "plastic sheeting theme" and just "run with it" thoughout the entire house.. Martha Stewart would be proud..
Most of all, this trip home today has brightened my spirits and given me back my "reason to live.." To save these poor souls.. Now I know what my son-in-law was talking about a couple of weeks ago when I asked him what he thought of me driving to Florida now.. His one and only response was:
"Who's going to get our house organized????"
Guess I better hit the drugstore for some one-a-day vitamins.. One
bottle a day, that is......
