Reminiscing about Sarasota's Brown Derby

Hi - I've just been over to the restaurants board for some inspiration!!

And it got me thinking - we used to visit Sarasota every year and always visited the Brown Derby restaurant. It was always packed and had an amazing salad bar - does anyone else remember it???

If you do remember - have you been anywhere similar in Orlando?? I would love to find a replacement for it as it really was one of the best places we've ever eaten.

I agree - it was fantastic!!!

My parents have a timeshare in Sarasota, and we always used to eat at the Brown Derby - having said that - it was years ago - late 80's early 90's perhaps.

I would love to find another restaurant with the same standard of salad bar (my favourite).

I remember going once and one of my sons who was about 6 at the time ordered childs pork chops - he got two of the hugest chops we'd ever seen, and we imagined 'doggy bagging' them home for cold pork chops for lunch the next day - he, however had other ideas and ate the lot - this has been an ongoing source of amusement whenever pork chops are served ever since - he's 27 now!!!!

Come on all you Florida visitors - where do we go for fantastic salad bars these days?
