Rember the sunset Savanna is closing Tomorrow! I wonder why they have to close it since the animals have been on the savanna since like forever! You think they would be ready to go now!

Construction crews need access to the savanna land in order to complete work on the exterior of Kidani Village.

At some point they will need to do landscaping and they can't have animals and landscapers on the savanna at the same time. Also, the animals need to be acclimated when changes are made to their environment and for the animals who live on the Sunset Savanna, these are major changes. The savanna is going to be much larger by the time they are finished.

Do you know for sure or are you going by the original announcment? Timeframes change sometimes in construction.

I got a call from Disney yesturday saying that I would be in a room without any views of the animals for my stay on jan18-23 2009, and I would get a credit or could go to another hotel!

There is another long thread on this topic. They were supposed to inform guests approximately 30 days before. In your case, it was only 10 days. It is supposed to be done in order that the reservations were made. How far ahead did you book?

I think the reason is because I was booked for a pool view but I upgraded to savanna view about 2 weeks ago, and I guess they over booked the savanna view! So i'm sure the other guests who booked savanna view a long time ago got first dibs.

I just called Disney to check and pay for my reservation, and I asked about the animals, This is what they told me, The animals will be removed from the savanna on the 15. They told me on the 12-15 they had to move some fencing so the landscapers could get by the animal barn to move in some larger trees. then said there will be around a thousand trees and shrubs going on the savanna and pool area. Most of the plantings are allready at Disney ready to plant.
