I've been debating towncar, taxi or rental car for our three-night get-away to WDW over Memorial Day weekend. Since we won't "need" a car, I was thinking of going the towncar route.

Then I remembered www.mousesavers.com. I checked out the rental car codes and, sure enough, there was one I could use in combination with the National Emerald Club membership that I already have that managed to knock off an entire weekend day's rental cost off of my total.

I ended up with a 3 night intermediate car (there's just 2 of us) of my choice from the Emerald Aisle for LESS than the probable cost of a towncar or a taxi!!:bounce:

You have to be willing to play around with the codes to see what works for you, but it's definitely worth it if you find something that helps!

I see some of the rental car codes disappeared off of mousesavers for Dollar.

They switched to a CD code instead of promo code system.

Like, GMF40 and GMF10 used to work fine but now they aren't.

But now OL5040 in the CD code gives discounted rates.

When I spoke to the office, they told me how they switched to a different code system to offer better rates nationwide.

Haven't tried a CD code in another city, but.......maybe......lol

Disney in 4 months and 2 days.......here we come!

I just tried the CD code for Dollar just for the heck of it and I got a base rate of $497 for a van for 2 weeks... when I went without the code I got a baserate of $451... weird? Didnt change anything but no code... Steph

I've seen that before too......mousesaver even mentions it....I guess it depends on the dates....I think the GMF codes (and probably the new OL5040 CD code) have blackout dates. I remember when the GMF's were posted on mousesaver, that they had blocks of dates that were frozen out so maybe your 2 weeks are in those periods.

$450 for 2 weeks for a van is NICE.......

I booked a van through Dollar in February for May 31-June 14. Using no code I got the best rate and ended up with a total of $469.24 (including taxes and fees) for the two weeks. I tried all the codes first and found that not putting in a code worked the best.

I had booked an Avis car for our cruise. DH wanted to fly into Melbourne so I booked it from there. Now it looks like we'll be flying into Orlando instead (much cheaper airfare). I just changed the car reservation and I'm saving $11 by getting it in Orlando.
