Last year we left for Washington D.C. early Good Friday Morning. We had a wonderful weekend and spent Easter morning at the zoo. :goodvibes

This year we are staying home and have to visit 2-3 houses after church while at least two more relatives are trying to guilt us into coming by. I've already warned DH that I don't care whether we have the money or not, we're getting out of town next Easter! :cool2:

I just left DC and there are a billion people down there, next time can I visit your relatives and you can ride the Metro to my job? p.s. Do the relatives have food? Booze?

I know it's crazy crowded. Last year, it wasn't just Easter weekend but the last weekend of the Cherry Blossom Festival. We stuck to the memorials and the kids were small enough to be done around 3:00 each day. We stayed at a nice hotel in Old Town so that made it all nice. At least one of the relatives will have booze...even for brunch! :lmao:

I use to love going away at Easter did the Disney thing 4 times I think, I was the one who always had the family over for holidays so all holidays were for me was work work work , not easy since I worked fulltime also. I so understand your title to this thread:thumbsup2

I absolutely love to travel during holidays. We have done it for many years ... from here to Europe and back.

When my kiddos were young, I always had everyone to my home as it was smack in the middle of everyone's commute ... as well as I had the biggest house. This included my IL's and my parents and sisters and bro and their families. Did not matter what holiday, from Christmas to Mother's/Father's Day ... I had everyone. Shopped, baked, cooked, cleaned up, everyone slept over, laundry, dishes etc etc. :headache:

As the kiddos grew up, we started traveling more and more to WDW. Then when it included holidays, and I only had to wake up and get to a Park ... whew, I loved that so much. No more worrying about not having everything I needed for every little to big holiday! :goodvibes

Sunday, we are all headed to the SAN DIEGO ZOO for the entire day!!! :cool1:

 Thanks for reminding me why I moved 400miles from our nearest relatives.

I love spending time with my family but for some reason over the last two ears all holiday events are at my house!!! Don't get me wrong it is nice to have family over but I hate all the mess and cleaning up afterwards. Now that Easter is around the corner leaving to Disneyland and dealing with the crowds seem better than a house full of kids running around and a pile of dishes and trash after!!!!
