Remembering where my car is

I spend a few days each month at WDW and Universal, with a fair amount of park hopping in between. Keeping track of where my car is (I drive there) is a constant challenge. Writing it down didn't work because I rarely bring a pen in the parks. Someone pointed out to me the brilliant idea of taking a picture of the spot. It gets me some curious looks until it dawns on them what I am doing.

That worked fine, but recently I have either had dead batteries by the time I leave or did not bring the camera. Found a new solution for that. Most phones have a voice memo function, with mine having the shortcut of using the right side of the four way control to directly access it. A three second voice message of my lot number has kept me in the know as to where my car is hiding. I also keep a Test Track Mickey antenna topper handy for my antenna. It is easy to see and few others have it.

Anyone know any other good tricks for keeping track of the car?:jumping1:

This is what we do and find it works well for us.

As far as remembering whereabouts in the row we are, this past trip it was very easy...except for 2 or 3 times we were always within a couple spots from the far end

I work for a large Fortune 200 company and as part of our management "rah rah" type training we actually partnered with Disney to learn some of their "innovative" approaches to keep employees happy.

One of the little tidbits that was shared with us (and I really don't know how this fits into what our business does, but it was interesting) is that when somebody approaches a CM and says "I can't find my car" the CM asks them "What time did you get here?" Apparently if you know what time you parked the CMs can point you in the right direction in the parking lot because they park sections of the lot based on the time the cars came in.

I've never seen this practiced in person, so it might just be something they made up for the seminar, but it sounded plausible :)

We sent ourselves a text message when we parked. When we returned to the parking lot, we looked at the text message on our phone.

When I'm at WDW, my car is always parked at Bus Stop 2, under a light pole, at the KCI airport lot back home.

:goodvibes

Good idea to use the phone to leave a voice mail! It's not usually a problem for me, but my friend and I once lost our car at Universal because we didn't bother to check what section or number we were in. It took us 1.5 hours to find it!

Last May was the first trip I've taken to WDW where we've stayed off property, so keeping up with where we parked the car was a new experience for us. My uncle and I usually came up with a mnemonic device to remember where we parked, but after the first day I started putting the lot and row into my phone as a text memo. Just in case we forgot stuff like "I'll be Goofy by the time I'm 102".

I have seen people leave a tennis ball on their antenna. It can be seen for quite a distance.

i always make my first few pics of the day a pic of the row # and row name. works out for us atleast. i have only once forgotten where i parked and it was at a nascar race:eek: (never forget again after that)

I just have my kids memorize our parking location. Their memories are a zillion times better than mine!

Oh no - that's completely true... I admit to remembering the wrong lane number at AK and this is how I found my car!

We're very good now at remembering to check the row in the am and make a mental or photographic note of the lane... however when we arrive in the evening at MK we are well known for completely forgetting to even look!

I take a picture on my cell phone any time I'm in a large parking lot. That way it's saved and I just have to go into my phone to find my car.

If I'm not sure exactly where my car is, I just point and push the button on the locking remote on my keychain, to lock it. The horn beeps and I can track it by sound. Or I can see the flashing lights.

Hope your car's lock remote has L-O-N-G range...

I read an article on improving memory for certain functions and such and one thing it said was that to remember where you parked you need to glance back at the car as you are walking away. Somehow this is supposed to embed the image in your brain and make it much more likely you will remember where it is.

Of course if I could just remember to look at the car... :rotfl:

It's great that people are using technology to address this issue, but there is no better solution than writing it down on a piece of paper from your purse or wallet.

Ive seen that happen when everyone does it and there are like 50 cars honking and flashing. ºOº

Since we're driving to Florida and will be driving to most of the parks instead of taking the buses, it shouldn't be a problem. ;)

Is carrying a pen all that hard? :confused3

I'm a minimalist. I carry a tiny purse, only big enough for my phone and my credit cards and driver's license. No checkbook, no pens, no lipstick, no bandages, no anti-bacterial gel, etc.
