Carl Sagan died twelve years ago, today. In addition to advancing public appreciation and understanding of the natural sciences, he was the consummate advocate of applying rationality to belief systems, and though never formally claimed to be, he was a great professor of Pantheism.
Sagan once stated that "The idea that God is an oversized white male with a flowing beard, who sits in the sky and tallies the fall of every sparrow is ludicrous. But if by 'God' one means the set of physical laws that govern the universe, then clearly there is such a God."
1934 - 1996
