this thread is all about the old rides that have been taken out of DLR. for example: the people mover.

i urge you to talk, argue, or remember the old rides that got taken out.

my personalfavorites had to be:
- rocket rods; i'm the only one in my school to ride it.
- flying saucers; great concept
- the submarines; now is finding nemo
- nature's wonderland; now is big thunder mtn.
- and the boats that you got to drive yourself...

what do you miss or wish you could have ridden?

I really really miss the people mover. I always have to ride the TTA many times while at WDW :)

I used to LOVE those boats as a child and honestly thought I was driving them :( I bet kids today would still love them.

I liked rocket rods while they worked and the line wasn't hours long...so not often lol

they shuld bring bak the TTA and if america sings wasn't tooken down we would have never gotten the great singing finale in the end of splash mtn. and the droids for the droid rooms

- the q-line for rocket rods was the only que line that you had to walk up a spiral stair case with 10 other ppl on it.

As a little girl of maybe 6 at the time- I vaguely remembered a
ride in Tomorrowland that shrunk you. I remember looking up in complete
amazement at the line of people moving up the conveyor belt in their
ride cars as they went into some kind of rocket ship????or needle???
and SHRINKING the people into itty bitty little people on the conveyor belt moving forward in their itty bitty teeny tiny ride cars.

I wondered what it felt like to be shrunken-
I was excited to BE shrunken! ...
*giggle and excited butterflies in my stomach as I describe this*

See- the memory still makes me feel like a little kid.

I never saw the ride as an older kid or grown up-but wanted to.
Does anybody have a picture of this ride?

The giant eyeball at DtD above the WoD store is a nod to it.

A quick Google search will reward you with 100s of photos, as well as some videos on youtube. :goodvibes

VMKers: Can you say, "ATIS"? hehe - aww -

the saucers, those seemed like some awesome rides

Yes I can and I so miss my dearest friend Schmoofy or what ever it was tht had made the copy of the ATIS ride. He did not talk much but was nice to me once long ago. VMK is gone as are so many things in DLR.

I was sweephunter and captain bluetoes by the way.

also innoventions got changed into 1 big house...

Hated Rocket Rods ! Stupid ride, too fast to be scenic, too slow and straight to be thrilling, and what an annoying whine all throughout TL!

Loved TTA, miss America Sings, and the buckets....especially going through Matterhorn.

None of my childhood visits to the Park were complete without a dinner at the Tahitian Terrace; I sure wish they'd bring it back, or at least use the space for *some* type of themed dinner show.

I remember going on America the Beautiful, and america Sings.
Loved going to Country Bear Jamboure and when we got off the ride, we got a brownie and milk. Loved riding the people movers too.
:happytv:

I so miss the Country Bears :( Why I will always hate Pooh :(

I also want to add the Golden Horseshoe Revue! No trip with Grandma was complete without a trip to see the show.

Country :guilty: bears :sad1: jamboree

Could not have said it better myself! I am also one who used to  the People Mover and the Skyway buckets. I loved the look of the queue line on the FL side of the buckets as you walked up to the little Bavarian looking house on the hill to board the buckets!

What about the Keel Boats? I seem to remember them quite fondly as well. Although... after hearing that a couple of them flipped, I am glad I wasn't aboard them and know it was probably wise for them to disappear into Yesterland. If IASW boats were bottoming out from the increased weight of people, I can only imagine how many soaking wet guests we would see from taking a swim in ROA. :lmao::rotfl::lmao:

Ah yes, the Keel Boats, they were called that because they may just "Keel Over" and "Keel" everyone on board (from CM naration) :rotfl2: So it sounds like there was more truth to that then we thought.

I do miss America Sings but at least we bought the album - yes vinyl - when it was still open. I put it on my ipod.

At least WDW has Country Bears but I liked the Vacation Hoedown show that they only showed at DL.

Flying Saucers. They had these the first time I went to DL but I didn't get to ride them. Then the next time we went they were gone. :sad1:

I guess you can't go back so you have to enjoy things while they are here.
