Here's a handy ID chart.

Not that you'd probably have this with you when it happened but at least you could see what caused your misery after the fact.

If you want a larger copy sent to you, go here and fill out the form.

Why did I open this??? I fear spiders, even worse then snakes! Pretty good info to have though.

Gulp! I think that the spiders I killed in the garage over the weekend were Brown Recluse. :scared1:

I am not getting close enough to figure out who is who. Stomp and run.

Thank you for this information. I've sent for a guide to hang on the fridge. we live in the boonies and have a lot of spiders around. We killed a huge black widow in the house about three months ago.

My husband is flying to Las Vegas tomorrow to cover for a colleague who is was hospitalized yesterday for a spider bite on the back of his neck. Even though I like the little boogers, I don't want one to bite me!

My ex-boyfriend's dad was bitten on the thumb by a brown recluse a few summers ago...unfortunately, John sent me pics of what his dad's thumb looked like after the fact. Picture a hot dog that's been overmicrowaved--you know, how they kind of burst apart at the ends? That's what the thumb looked like. :scared1:

From that point on, I made darn sure I knew what a brown recluse looked like.

Stomp and Run :scared1: are you kidding me? I can't get close enough to do that, they could lunge, jump etc.... I know it is irrational, but I just can't do it. My DH says I have a very specific spider scream that he and my DS both recognize and come running when they hear it, usually to laugh at my angst but still.

I HATE SPIDERS! I got trapped in the garage a couple of weeks ago by a black widow.

My DS was biten by a brown recluse when he was 1.5 yrs of age. He is now 17 and the scar that was on his back at his diaper line at the time is now between his shoulder blades :scared1: If I knew then what I know now about the dangers of the recluse I would have come completely unglued. My DR. was very calm and very proactive and fortunatley didn't tell me too much - sometimes ignorance is bliss.

Thanks for the info, I am going to order that flyer and post it in the house and the garage.

Well if you guys haven't seen the SSR spider bite thread it's worth a look . This poor souls foot was a mess.

So this info is good to have maybe I'll add it to my folder of stuff that goes with me.

I don't like spiders but usually don't freak out over them...UNTIL we sprayed a wolf spider in the house and she released all the babies carried on her back. EEEK! Hundreds of eensy spiderlings shot out all over the place.

We sprayed again and vacuumed the area, but I was SURE some of them survived and would come for me in my sleep for killing their mom! :rotfl:

All you stomp and run people need to take heed!

Ohhh you've gone and done it now - I certainly hope you got rid of the vaccum cleaner bag, relocated it far, far away:lmao: :lmao:

There are not even words to describe the feeling in the pit of my stomach when I saw that chart. And spiders aren't even at the top of my phobia list!!!

 ICH....blahh....ugh....spiders....yuck! I was bitten by one years ago on the leg...it got horribly infected and I was hospitalized for over a week. The scar is still there....I hate spiders.

Ha ha...that reminds me of a time when my brother and I were both still living at home and my parents were out of town. I was getting ready to head to bed and was saying good night or something at one end of the family room, and he was standing at the other end, leading into the kitchen. At that moment, a huge hairy spider bolted from under the couch and started across the family room; as soon as Jeff and I saw it, we both shrieked like little girls and took off running to opposite ends of the house, screaming, "OHMYGOD KILL IT KILL IT KILLLLLLLL IT!!" :rotfl:

About 2 minutes later, when we were brave enough to approach the room again, the spider was still sitting in the middle of the room and since I'm the oldest, I forced Jeff to kill it (despite the fact that he's about a billion percent wimpier about bugs than I am...when we were little and I had had enough of him playing in the sandbox with me, I used to grab the nearest daddy longleg and throw it at him to make him leave :rolleyes1 ). The method he used to kill the spider wasn't so much "stomp and run" as "stand 15 feet away and heave a shoe at it." We called that night for an emergency extermination the following morning.

I JUST HAD DINNER!!!! Now i will dream of spiders with babies and vaccums!! WHY DO I OPEN THREADS I REALLY DONT HAVE 2??
