Remember that 40% pin code?

We booked in Feb and just got back from 5 days at Grand Floridian--plus we were upgraded to Sugar Loaf--it was the best 40% code ever!

Tinklvr94! Yeah, so glad you got upgraded. I was wondering about that since we have a 40% off code at GF coming up in November and I was kinda thinking that those with the codes wouldn't get an upgrade. I suppose it depends on all the renovations going on while we are there. But good to know that it is possible!

Did you request any type of room? We are going with no requests and hoping for the best! Just curious if you had requests and still got upgraded. Thanks!

Oh an what is the latest on the renovations? Were you dissappointed in them? Also did you go to the new renovated Park Fare??

When you say it came out, I'm still a little confused on how people found out about it...I never get emails with offers...was this just a code that people posted on the Dis?

We received it as a mailer in the mail. But others got them through email. This code was supposed to be a PIN code that needed to be given. But somehow lots of people who never got a PIN code or an Email PIn were still able to get the discount. It was a hot discussion back then, because some CM's were applying the codes even though the people didn't have them. Some people were just lucky and that is why they might have said they "Came Out" here on the boards in February.

Oh and lots of time you might have a code associated to your name or adddress without you getting a mailer or email, so always ask if you have any special offers for your address. The CM's don't usually offer it up to you unless you ask. Lots of times these codes fall in certain dates, but if you know you have a code maybe you can work your dates to work with the code.

Good luck!

Cmbar, I ALWAYS ask, now that I've been "Dis educated"!! And so far I haven't had a code attached to my name...it'll be a glorious day when I do! I'll happily post it here! In the meanwhile, the AAA discount will have to do.

I really appreciate you posting that, Princess Erin!! Now I know exactly what to look for...:coffee:

Must admit I was one of the frustrated campers who didn't get the code. Nice to see the excited posts of those who did get the deal & were able to use it.

Sure was hard to feel happy for those who "got lucky" even though they didn't get the code but; managed to sweet talk a CM into it.;)

Many others reported not being able to "get in on the sweet deal" too.

While i understand the marketing behind pincodes and think they are a great concept; i do wish that said usage would be restricted to those who indeed are targeted.

Evidently, the mouse owns me and doesn't see fit to throw me any pin codes:confused3 . IMO, their wisdom is flawed, armed with an AP & a great room rate/pin code; i'd be happy to plan an extra trip & spend even more$$$:wizard:

I agree with your post!:thumbsup2

While I was one of the ones to get it, it really was only because I have booked many rooms for my family and they keep trying to get my family members back. The cards always come to my MIL or My DSister. But they all have my address on it, so they said I am able to book using the discount. One CM told me they also think they have this marketing kinda screwy because she also thought it should be the frequent guest that get the breaks!

 since i'm the "unoffical TA" for my extended family, it might be an avenue to explore. Knowing my clueless SIL she'd just throwaway any marketing (including pincodes) as junkmail:scared1: . She didn't even want the planning DVD sent out to her before trip.:confused3

ITA that the frequent guest ought to get the breaks!! After all, when considering how much we've spent being "owned by the mouse" (loved that from the above poster!), why should the ones who have never been be the ones to be courted with "sweet deals"!!

It's because they know, no matter what, we'll keep coming back! They're trying to get new people there to spend money.

Very true. If you'd like to maximize your chance on getting a code to your email address, make sure to get a junk email account. Use that account when registering for all the Disney World sites. Make sure you default all of your answers to include that you've never been to WDW. I had 1 email address that had success in using this method. It may or may not work, heck, Disney may even figure it out with updates to their website, but any chance is better than none. If worse comes to worse, wait for the public codes. They are historically listed on mousesavers.com so that you can anticipate them. Did i deserve the code? No.pirate: Am I glad i got it? Yes:dance3: Does it bother my conscience? Nope:snooty:

Cmbar, we did request to be in Boca Chica because it is the closest to the pool which my sons love! Maybe that's why we were upgraded because Boca Chica was undergoing renovations. Sugar Loaf is now under going renovations per cm. I did not see any renovated rooms, but we were watching them working on Boca Chica and we were thinking it would be fun to be the first in the new rooms!
We did go to Park Fare and it was great! They had just opened a couple of days before we got there and the food area is set up great! I still think they do not have enough seating area though.
I have to say this was our best trip to WDW ever~Pixie Dust your way for November!:tink: pixiedust:
