Well...slowly but surely he's starting! Maybe he'll be ready for his 1st birthday cake next month!! He's been enjoying biter biscuits and wagon wheels this weekend. :) Hasn't hesitated once to put it in his mouth. However, he still struggles with the smaller things like cheerios and the gerber veggie puffs. I'd like to start introducing different things to him, but I'm not sure what since he seems to do better with bigger things he can hold on to and chew on. I don't want to give him something too big and then he chokes. I'll keep trying the smaller things...eventually he'll get the hang of it, but for now, any ideas what bigger things I can try? Thanks!

That's great! I remember when my 1st ds was about that age, I felt like all he ate was Cheerios. It's such a huge victory when they move up to real foods!

Puffy cheetos-they are a great size for them to hold and they dissolve with saliva. Great starter food!

I still say........... beignets....or how about corn fritters? How about a King Cake??

Try the Gerber Graduate Veggie Dices. My DD- 1YO loves the carrot dices. They are very soft and easy to pick up. The fruit dices are good too, I just rinse off the packing syrup.

I tried the diced peaches, but DS couldn't pick them up. I'll try the carrots and green beans...I think they may be less slippery.

LOL...Dan, I still think he's a bit too young for those things. ;)

No advice really, everything I'd suggest has already been mentioned...

But I wanted to tell you that the photo of your son in your sig is SO CUTE!!! It reminds me of one I have of my oldest at about 8 months old, sitting on a chair wearing sunglasses. :cool2:

Pasta, especially the twists. Just overcook it a bit (so it is mushier). Also, I found chicken noodle soup and vegetable soup were great too. Just heat the soup, then drain all the broth and only give the child the noodles or veggies. Both my DDs loved this. Younger DD (now 2 1/2) survived on this of a long time since she had only 2 teeth until about 11 months!!
