Remember my baby hamsters?

I separated the boy from the girls last night and he escaped. Somewhere in my house is a male hamster running wild and I was worried bc it would be his first night alone w/o Mom and his sisters....

Ha -- that happened to one of our hampsters, but she was pregnant & I was convinced that she had had her babies under our bathroom sink. She lived there for weeks before I realized that the babies didn't survive, and I had to try and catch her.

The favorite pastime for those hampsters was trying to figure out how to get away.

Hope you find him! I had an escape artist hamster once, that used to get out regularly. I was always so afraid the cat would find her before I did. One day, she finally did. Imagine my surprise when the cat didn't harm the silly thing at all! She came walking out into the living room holding it by its scruff just like a kitten, and when I screamed she just put it down and looked at me like "Wha? What's your problem?" Hamster was totally unharmed and lived a long happy hamster life.

Barb,

Get an empty papercan and put peanut butter on a cracker and place inside the papercan. Then slant a board up to the top of the papercan from the floor. Hopefully, by morning you will see a small hamster in the papercan!

Good luck!

I would have freaked out! That's sweet that your cat didn't hurt the hamster.

We had an esacpee once. DH woke up with it on his chest in the middle of the night. That thing went flying across the room at 100 miles an hour. I have to admit he was easier to catch in a stunned state. In DH's defense, before the PETA folks hunt us down, he had been sound asleep and didn't have time to orient before he pitched the little rodent.

I guess I'm a sick pup, because that literally made me laugh out loud.

We had all eight baby hamsters in my brother's room. They escaped! I also had my own hamster stuck in my closet for a week.

I use to set food by the cage and ours would come in the middle of the night to eat. I would hear it and hurry up and catch it. Happen about 4 different times.

Little wanderer has been found. Around midnight dh & I were watching tv and I saw him scurrying out from behind the entertainment center to hide under the newly put-up Xmas tree. He was pretty tired and docile. We got him to go in a plastic tube and attached it to his house. I made sure he had plenty of fresh food and water.

This morning he is sleeping in the end of the plastic tube.

MariDisney-Your dh's experience was my fear! LOL

My Grandma found an escaped King Snake like that once. The critter had gotten out, and Grandma calmly, but loudly, hollered, "I found the snake!"

Mr. or Ms. King Snake was returned to the wild, it was a local capture in the first place.
