We adopted a dog today!! :bounce: His name is Taz and he is a purebred Pomeranian. :D We spent a couple hours with him today at the local shelter and he really is beautiful. He loves my husband and actually prefered sitting on his lap to mine. I'll post photos when he becomes part of our family officially next Wed. He is getting fixed on Tues. (good for me, tough cookies for him!!;) )

Oh my, wishing you tons of good luck :teeth:

My mother, who lives with us has a full blooded red Pomeranian named Macey! When mom moved in of course Macey came too. That dog NEVER EVER EVER shuts up. She will bark at anything and nothing and EVERYTHING!

We got a pool from Wal-Mart, one of the blow up kind that are pretty big. Of course Macey attacks it. I picked her up and threw her in.....LOL! Now before I'm accused on animal cruelty my DH was in the pool and Macey DID SWIM.....LOL!

My mother ADORES that dog and she is something else.

Anyway good luck with your new baby, they definatly have personality!

Oh, Colleen! Congratulations on the new member of your family! I bet Taz will just love snuggling up with you and yours, and I'm sure he'll help keep your dh's spirits up! You all certainly deserve the unconditional love your new little Pom will bring to your lives!

Have fun with Taz (oh, he's getting de-Tazzed on Tuesday!:p ) and all my best wishes for your dh!

Congrats!

DH's mother had a Pomeranian and it was a hearty little dog.....lived to be about 20!

Colleen, congratulations and I can't wait to see pics!!

This might be just the thing to help your DH during the tough days ahead, a little furry friend to sit with him, welcome him home every time he walks in the door, etc. There's nothing like the love of a dog!!

Best wishes to you, your family and your new furbaby, Taz!!

Aw! That's great TLC for your DH! Pets are great during times when you are going through stuff and need healing!

I'm so glad to hear that you saved a dog from the shelter. And he sounds like a real sweetie. I'm sure your DH is going to get alot of loving from him during this trying times. Good luck to you all.
It was one of the best things we as a family did was to get Max from a shelter while I was on chemo for BC. He has become the love of our family's life.

I just love pom's. Our neighbors (before they moved) had sweet little pom named Ginger. I was so sad when they moved.

Congrats on your new furry family memeber!!!

:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

I bet he's just adorable!

Poms are so cute. They are like little balls of fluff. :)

Great, Colleen!!! As GG said above, pets can be so therapeutic for people when they are ill, plus they are great fun. So happy for you guys!!!!

We talked to the shelter yesterday and we're bringing the kids there on Saturday so they can spend some time with him before he comes home on Wednesday. ::yes:: They are all so excited about this and of course, now we are having "discussions" over who gets to do what with the dog (like grooming, walking, pooper-scooper detail, bathing...................... ). Then, there is the debate over where the dog will sleep!!

I have made it clear to the kids that whenever someone is playing with Taz, someone must, at the same time, make a fuss over Sabrina (our cat of 6 yrs). She rules the house and I don't want her to feel threatened (ok, not physically, she is bigger than Taz!:p ) but I don't want her to feel neglected. There is a very specific throw in the living room that she positively loves and the dog is no way allowed on this blanket! Of course, I don't think the dog will be able to jump up onto the furniture!! :hyper:

How wonderful.........Taz will bring you many years of comfort and companionship. Dogs have a way of knowing how you are feeling and how to bring you up! I wish for you many years of happiness with him and a recovery for your husband. I think shelter pets really do know that someone saved their life! and return it 10 fold. Welcome home Taz!

I thought Thumper ruled the house!;)

Congrats on your Pomeranian!:D

Well, the cat rules the "house" BUT the rabbit RULES the cat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:jumping1:
