Does anyone remember several months ago I posted about a friend that wanted to name her baby HenryAnn if it was a girl. Well, she had a boy and named him William (thank God)!

Glad you posted that last sentence. HenryAnn, what an interesting thing to do to your child. Hope she had saved for those therapy sessions. :teeth:

Wow, Henryann is interesting. I'm glad that she had a boy lol.

I'm hoping that William will be an only child or have only brothers so that Henryann doesn't resurface lol.

Do you get the feeling that when it comes to naming girls, people seem to pick unusual names and/or unusual spellings. But with boy's names, most people seem to go the traditional route. Why is that?

He has an older sister named Parker but I think he may be the last baby for them.

I have a cousin named Frankie Lynn (after her grandfather Frank) and I grew up with a girl named Marvella (after her grandfather Marvin).

Unfortunately, Marvella was always called Marvelephant :guilty: because she was a big girl at 6'4"! Some kids are so cruel!
But on the brightside I know she married a great guy! So, hopefully the future is better. I always liked her.

Well, a thought on naming girls non-traditional, unisex names was that then, when they get to be an adult, their resume wouldn't automatically be shunted aside because they were female. I remember one time I got a higher grade on an assignment because the professor misread my name as "Dan" rather than what is actually is. I am not sure why that would be--the actually course was educational theory for math and science teachers. I should have let the professor continue to think I was a guy until the end of the term, although I still got my A in the course.

How funny. I have a daughter named Parker which we thought was sort of cool and trendy but I would never have thought of HenryAnn to go with it! :confused3

Interesting... I had a little girl in my class this year and her name was Anne Henry and her sister's name was Mary Michael.

I don't see anything so wrong with HenryAnn - although I would never name a child that. People are naming their girls lots of names that started out as boys names. I don't get how one is so different than another. They were just combining two trends - old fashioned names and naming girls boy names.

I love the way HenryAnn sounds. :) But if it were me, I would probably have spelled it Henriann. (or maybe Henrianne)

It looks less like a male name and more like a female name that way. (kind of reminds me of Henrietta, actually, which I also like)

On the whole, I really like boys names for girls, though not so keen on the reverse, lol.

coming from a family of girls with guys names, its not fun.... I have a guys name and I hate it. I always wanted a "cute" name that nobody would ever think was a guy.
