Remember Breakfast at Top of the World?

When I was young we camped in FW and every meal but one was at the campsite. For that one meal parents would splurge and we'd go to Top of the World breakfast buffet where the food was OK to a 9 yo, the resteraunt was boring, but the best parts were the $6 per cup OJs and the view. Oh my poor parents. I'll have to take them out to breakfast now thinking about it.

This is our favorite, all time meal at WDW. Especially remember the Ambrosia and the build-your-own strawberry shortcake.

Don't remember going for breakfast, but did take dd there for lunch and dinner....buffet style...strawberry soup....wow, those were the days...now it's all sit down, stuffy, cloudy windows...a lot of pump, but no circumstance. Don't get me wrong, the food is excellent, but the atmosphere a little bit too overdone, "updo" for my taste.

Breakfast at the Top of the World was always a check out day treat(also mom didn't have to clean the kitchen). We loved walking outside on the "balconies" for one last look around. For those who remember and love the ambrosia, it is now served at the Clam Bake at Cape May, while I just remember loving the cherries my parents say it is as good if not better. So go check it out, it it on the salad side of the buffet

Oh, yes-we absolutely loved the brunch. When they replaced it with California Grill, I was so upset, I avoided California Grill for years! I seem to remember an ice sculpture at the brunch-was there one or am I imagining that?

In 1973 I took my little sister to "Top of the World" to see Shari Lewis and Lambchop at the Dinner Show. We had a blast. We also stayed at the Contemporary in a wing room for $29 per night. Those were the days.

Oh I had the same childhood experience. We camped at Fort Wilderness and on the last day went to breakfast at the Top of the World. All I can remember eating is blueberries in a sour cream sauce and thinking that was the best thing ever. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

The Top of the World and the citrus swirls in Adventureland is what my family remembered about WDW when I was a kid! I remember sitting at a table at the Top of the World writing postcards to my friends back home while eating the french toast that had cinnamon sprinkled on top of it.

Oh the orange juice. We thought it was free refills so we always said yes when asked if we wanted our glasses refilled. The we included my DH, myself, 1 DD, 4 DS and a friend - yes 8 of us. I thought my husband would die when the bill came.

It's one of those memories that's priceless - well maybe not.

OMG, I loved the Top of the World! My DBF, now my DH, took me there for a romantic dinner, and it was amazing. Then we took the kids for the brunch and we thought that they would enjoy it as they had this wide array of food. My 8 YO DS and 10 YO DD had the boxes of rice krispies and a glass of juice. That's it. Nothing else. Now that would not have been such a surprise to us, but we had taken our three, and my DH nephew for a ten day trip, and our food bill was enormous, we were in the area from Christmas Eve thru the New Year. They had full breakfasts every day. It is 19 years later, and DH is still cringing.

This is exactly the way my dad must have felt. All my little sister and I wanted were the tiny boxes of cereal, milk (not included in the cost of the buffet) and several glasses of OJ. The view was a killer though. As a 9yo, I thought *I* had gotten my money's worth

Sure do. The daily breakfast buffet was great as was the one at the Papeete Bay at the Polynesian. On Sundays, they both offered a champagne brunch.

They don't even do any brunches anywhere at WDW anymore do they? If you dont' get you butt out of bed and to a Disney restaraunt by 10:45 its no breakfast for you! I would love breakfast food later in the day while there.

We often stayed at the CR and ate many meals at Top of the World. We have lots of fond memories and really miss it. Breakfast was great! Lunch was a buffet as well, until they changed it somewhat. They had a terrific Ice Cream Pie for dessert.....fabulous!! Broadway at the Top was a good show, but breakfast was their best meal IMHO. I remember eating breakfast there right before it closed, although we thought it was simply being remodeled. Boy, were we sad when we heard it was closed!

We loved the Sunday Brunch at Top of the World too. We would make it a point to go there every trip.

I remembering eating breakfast there as well. I also remember going to the dinner show in '83 & '85. We have pictures of us all dressed up and a guy even asked me to dance! We were on the Gold Key plan and staying at the Contemporary...we thought we had "made" it!!

OK, now we are all just admitting to our age! I loved this breakfast! The belgian waffles with the warm apple topping were delish! I was a 4th grader at the time, so I never saw the bill; but I too was ordering the pricey OJ each morning.

In what year did TOFW stop serving brunch?

WDW dining has improved drastically in 20 years, but the formal restaurants of the early years seemed more special, no? Lots of small, subtle touches that today's crop doesn't approach. I suspect it's got something to do with democratization and accessibility: more people can afford to eat at a nice Disney restaurant than formerly.
