Where you just slide across seats and they manually closed the doors?
 
Yes, although I was only about 12 when they replaced them, I still remember the noise it made when they closed each door in sequence.

Was that at the same time as the monorail style of seating where there were seats in the center also, not a stand tyoe of thing. So each car had 4 benches instead of two. That's what I remember in the late 80s.
