.....knowing how hard it is to get adr's, how terrible is it to end up doing a walk up because it happens to be available and not go to the reserved restaurant?

I would like to "wing it" but I know if I don't have an adr for each night we may not be able to eat at a TS and having the DDP that would be bad! But, if I am at Epcot, and can get into LeCellier "in an hour" I want to do it!

Does that screw others up that much?:confused3

Well, I have the number for reservations on my phone, and have decided not to go a few times on the day of the ADR (not Le Cellier though) and have called Disney dining and cancelled so someone else has a chance to get it.

People are so nuts about Le Cellier that if you are noncommital I would just not make the reservation there. It is really hard to get.

ETA.. Helps to read... I would ask at le Cellier but the last few times I asked on a lark I was turned away.. If they happen to say yes, then it would be nice if you called and cancelled the other depending on how popular the restaurant is or how busy the park is! Marrakesh and Biergarten rarely fill up except for when there is free dining, for example.

As someone who called until an hour before dinnertime many times in the parks, it would be great if you could cancel the reservation. A lot of places (like Chef Mickey's) will allow walk ups when they get those last minute cancellations. It helped us out many a time.

I don't blame you for trying to get a hard to get spot at the last minute. But other people may want the reservations you don't :thumbsup2

It truly depends what time of year you are going. If you are going during a busy time or during free dining, I think your chances of a walkup are very slim. We went during free dining and saw people getting turned away at Chef Mickey's. Also, I highly doubt that you will get a walkup for Le Cellier no matter when you go. I would make ADRs and cancel them if they don't work while you are there. But it's better than going without any ADRs, especially if you have the dining plan. You might get walkups if you go at opening (4PM for dinner, etc). But I wouldn't go to Le Cellier at 6PM and expect to be told 1 hour.

I walked up in November once, alone, party of one to Le Cellier and I waited 2 hours! I vowed NEVER AGAIN to go to WDW w/o ADR's.

The chances of you being able to do a walk-up are fairly slim and if they do take you as a walk-up you may have to wait an extended period of time.

If you don't use a reservation that you have made courtesy dictates that you should call to cancel it. This past June we ended up making several last minute and unexpected dining changes but we always called and cancelled so that hopefully someone else could use the reservation.

We did not stay at WDW, but OP last year during free dining because we could not get ADRs anywhere when we called a few weeks before. We did not want to get stuck eating cs for a week. We would have loved to get an ADR that someone gave up. Please cancel your ressies you do not use.
