They can't accept blood transfusions because they believe that once blood leaves the body it is unpure.
In Leviticus there are a bunch of reasonings for blood to be unpure, I suggest you read that.
Some of them are rather ridiculous.

And they don't celebrate Christmas and other holidays like that because they have pagan roots, and they do not support that. They believe their religion is the true branch of Christianity.
