so can i dro my two cents in? i thought this was a thread about religion not one to pick on a fellow diser amanda/meaghan is my freind and i thought that this thread was doing a great job of staying on topic so could we get back to it? lets pick a new subject thats on topic. I have a question does anyone ever think of them selves as just christian or do fellow christians always think of them sleves as like methodist or baptist or catholic? i have never wanted to think of myself as just one but if i had to i think i would say methodist cuz i have been to more methodist churchs then anything else but im rambaling now so i will stop.

Hmm.

I was baptised a catholic and took my first communion, but recently chose not to get confirmed. Mainly because I would have done it for the wrong reasons and after 'soul searching' I found out that I have agnostic views which technically still isn't "decided" on the whole religion front.

I go to a Catholic High School and I went to a Catholic Primary/Elementary school basically because they were good schools not because of my religion really.

I basically now consider myself a lapsed catholic and call myself a sort of "agnostic christian" which sounds absolutely bizzare and impossible. Bare with me though. I agree with basics of Christianity like the morals and ethics, but I disagree with some of their views. Mainly on homosexuality, pro-life and contraception etc.

In my opinion, you cannot really call yourself a 'religious catholic' if you do not 100% support the views of the religion. In my eyes, if you find flaws in your own religion that you disagree with, you are therefore not believing in that particular aspect of the religion and then you can't really say you believe in the whole thing. Afterall, religion is belief; you either accept it or you don't.

Disclaimer: I understand people may disagree with me, but that does not mean I am right or wrong

I just want to make sure that if there is a heaven, that I get into it".

That really annoys me. I like to think if there is a heaven, you will only get in if you TRULY believe in your faith. Not by just going to church every week or getting confirmed..
