Some time back I read in a trip report about someplace you go to as soon as one of the parks open to release Tinkerbell. Did I read something wrong, or is that correct? :confused3 If it is, where does that happen, and how does it work? Thanks. :)

You can "wake up" Tink at the tinkerbell toy shop in Fantasyland..every morning.

Go directly to the store when the park opens...your child will get a wand...tap Tink's box waking her and she will fly through the store. And continuse to fly thru every few minutes, back and forth to her "sleeping box".

Good Luck!! :teeth:

Also know that so many people know of this, that it can become a very intense run to the store - and often times there are many tears - - so last year I didnt tell dd, we ran, but someone got there from the CRT breakfast before us, and there were 4 other moms and kids standing there too - only the first child that day "woke" up Tink...

sometimes they'll let more than one... sometimes....

For my DD since she didnt know, she just thought it was magical watching Tink fly around the room, dd loved going in the shop later thru the week at different times and asking some of the kids if they saw Tink - and she would show them Tink's hiding place!! (and point Tink out as she flew around the room!!) That was magical to me!!! (dd was 7)

Just this past Sept. we had an early breakfast at CP. It was great being in the park before it "officially" opens. We were at rope drop in the castle and there was a mom there with her dd. She was telling me how great it was that her dd was the first at CP that morning and was able to help Pooh and friends with breakfast and have her pic taken with all the characters just herself. I asked her what ride she was planning on going on when the rope dropped and she became very nervous! She had her dd in front of her and was telling her to be quiet. When the rope dropped she pushed her dd HARD towards tinkerbelle treasures screaming run, run! I knew what she was doing but my gosh that poor little girl was kinda stunned. I am sure that waking up Tink is very cool but after seeing that I like to see the magic "just happen" and not be a race to "make" the magic happen.

Waking up Tink and some of the other "first one there and get to do it" thing in Disney World remind me of the parents from Willy Wonka the movies.

You put so much pressure and expectation on the poor kid and if he/she doesn't make it, what a total let down.

It's a vacation, for heaven's sake, not NYC marathon.

Thanks for the info. I'm not one of those mom's that the PP's have stories on. If we get to the store to do that and it works out, great, if not, it will still be great and we will still have pictures. Its our twin toddlers first Disney trip, so everything will be magic. We have been planning this trip since three months ago, and I talk to the kids about it all the time. I have only been to Disney once about 10 years ago, and it was during a business trip so I only got a day there, so I am soooo excited! Thanks again for the help. :goodvibes

Forget parents with their kids...I've read posts here by adults with no kids who run to get in front of little kids to be the guest to wake Tinkerbelle!! They like to use the excuse "But everyone's a kid at WDW", to which I say, um, no...not really. It shows great maturity to stand back and the kids have fun, adults can enjoy the fun as well, but please, stand back and watch. If a grown man or woman stepped in front of my daughter to be the one to hold the "magic wand" to "wake tink", some words would definitely be exchanged!

We (both DD's, DH and me!)got to do this and it was great fun! They also let the child behind us do it that morning as well.

- it is whoever is first :)

I'd love to have DD do this cause she loves Tink more than any of the princesses. But like I say a lot, she's on a need to know basis, and sometimes she just doesn't need to know. So until we're there and be able to judge for ourselves if it's doable, she doesn't have the awareness that there's even a remote possibility of doing this. I hate seeing kids being setup by parents for something spectactular (perhaps in their eyes) and not being able to follow through due to unforseen circumstances.

We are going end of next week and if we are so lucky I will have DD3 do this but if we are not no harm, she has no clue and we are not going to get into a match with another family about this.

We are only discussing things we know will happen with her..why set her up for dissapointment? And why fight over it.

Like someone said DD3 will be thrilled just to see tinkerbelle flying around!

waking up tink.....well we were almost first. We had ate at CRT on Sept. 24th and by time we got there the girl was getting down. The CM were nice and let my DD do it and I got to take a pic and they gave her a cert. But of course she was not happy with it. The store is adorable and you can go see tink fly around all day. I laughed at night saying lets go see if we can put her to bed! :rotfl2:

It was one of the highlights of my dd's trip. My dd and niece did it last Friday. They literally ran the whole way to the castle. I didn't make a big deal of it but they both really wanted to do it (especially since they didn't get to see Tink fly because of the Halloween fireworks Weds & Friday! :guilty: ).
They were the first ones there, and another little girl came in about a minute later and of course we included her. The three of them were able to do it at the same time.
I felt bad though because after they started, 2 more little girls came in and just watched glumly. Actually I think the moms were more disappointed. They let them take pics though.
It's neat but not worth the stress to try to get there first!

My DD got to Wake Tink in Sept. We went on a Monday and there wasn't even anyone else in the store. It was great and she got the certificate. Magic we will never forget.

Hate to say it, but some of these people you are describing sound coo-coo for Cocoa Puffs! I can understand walking briskly to get somewhere, but parents actually breaking into a run just to beat another child! My DD would LOVE to do this also, but come on!

What does this actually look like? Is it a remote control kind of thing or what? Please describe! I'd like to see it, but I am certainly not going to body-check a 4 year old just so my DD can open the box!

You don't actually see Tinkerbelle. After the child (and not an adult, hopefully) taps the box that Tink is "sleeping" in, fiber optics around the shop simulates the invisible presence of Tink, flying through the store. Fun for the lucky child who gets to wake her, but definitely no reason to trample every child and/or old lady with a walker on the mad dash to Tinerbelle's Treasures!!

We were in Magic Kingdom on Sunday, September 25th. We had an early breakfast with Cinderella and we were at the rope behind 2 families for the rope drop. Both families were wanting to wake up Tinkerbell. They were arguing before the rope even dropped because the one family said the other family had cheated and gotten into the park early by telling them they had a breakfast reservation. Anyway, I knew about waking Tinkerbell and thought my girls would like to see it even if we were not the first ones there. The rope dropped and the two families sprinted for the shop, dragging their kids behind them. One of the kids was hurt and crying by the time they got into the store. The CM let all 3 girls wake up Tinkerbell since they were arguing about it. Waking up Tinkerbell was nothing special! You waved the little wand, said "Wake up Tinkerbell" 3 times, and some little lights lit up on the wall which lasted all of 3 seconds. The girls who did it were in such a daze from the race to the store that they did not even seem to care about waking Tinkerbell. My husband and I both said "That's it?" We were very upset about witnessing the whole thing. It was not a magical way to start our trip. We felt bad that our girls even saw the total chaos of everyone running to the store, the tears, the upset adults, everything. It was ridiculous! I hope Disney will stop this madness very soon! I also want to say that we stopped back into the store later that afternoon and the CM was very friendly and showed my girls how Tinkerbell was flying all over the store and how you could see her pop into the dresser drawer for a second and then fly off again. I'm sure they enjoyed this more than they would have enjoyed waking her up. Parents are going crazy over something so silly and it is completely out of control.

I agree that is pure crazy and took the fun out of what should have been a magical time!
