Release of Fastpasses

No... it’s everyone else's Same Day.

If it’s March 27, and Disney adds FP for March 27 mid-morning on March 27, no one can get them same day and they don’t help someone booking at 60 days (in this case May 26.)
You are spot on- my mistake.

No evidence ever since FP+ started that they do this. I've looked more than enough times to say that there have never been a bulk of additional FP added to the pool (without a change to park hours.)
Now, people cancel trips all the time, so it's possible to catch a FP here or there due to a cancelled trip but a bulk drop, no. There are no additional bulk drops without added park hours
And people change same day plans all the time so FP come and go from the pool same day especially, more than here or there in advance. But they don't throw out a bulk of FP that morning for a given ride. We change our plans day off at the parks too often, there's FP out there but not that many that it was from a drop done by Disney

I remember a post about this happening with FoP...that for several days (within the 60-day window) Disney added a ton of FP's...I want to say it was back in January that this happened (search for it...there was a huge discussion about it). I think Disney does add FP's after the fact, but not on a regular or consistent basis; you just need to keep checking and hope you get lucky.

I also agree with previous comments...in most cases, it's that somebody dropped the FP's and you were lucky enough be checking at the right time.

Yes, I remember this too. There suddenly became FoP available for most time slots on many days. I think the running theory was that Disney has observed how the FP line was going after the initial land opening crowd went down, so they added more.

I was able to book FOP FP for my first 3 days of the trip. I'm going at what I believe is a busy time (Memorial Day weekend). There was plenty of availability. We don't have AK planned til mid-week so I didn't book FOP until our 4th day in. Again, many times available. I was online at 4am (my time, PST) and got everything we wanted. Makes me wonder why there is SO much of a problem for some getting "good" FP???

Same. I went last July and August and had no problems getting FOP FPs for an early AK day, for either trip. Of course, we were just a party of two both times, but still...

It always makes me smile, though, when I get that email from Disney on day 60, along about 11 am EST, saying "you can book your fastpasses now!" Sure. I've been done for about 3 hours and 50 minutes by then!

LOL!!! I got that email this morning as well. Ummmmm, a few hours late! Just for kicks though, around noon I logged in to check availability and it was pretty good. Surprised me. Still FOP, 7 Dwarfs, etc.

So we all know how our Fastpasses work... at the 60 Day mark from your resort stay, you can book your Fastpasses for your entire stay. Therefore, does Disney hold back on releasing some fastpasses for each day? Confused? I'm not sure how to explain this, but here's an example: I'll use FoP as an example.

Let's say today is my 60-day mark for Fastpasses and I'm looking to get a FoP passage. Being that there might be up to ten days of previously booked and arrived guests who might be looking for the same FP around the same time, I'd think that the chances of getting a FP is slim. Thinking about this, does WDW hold back a certain number of Fastpasses for days and release them little by little each day, so people who's FP window just opened have an opportunity to snag a FP?
Hopefully that makes sense!

I will say this. I have a sister in law who is an Intern for Walt Disney Imagineering and she mentioned something about the parks release extra FP’s every so many hours for popular attractions. I didn’t really believe this theory. I also used to be part of a WDW Facebook group where people posted info, pics, etc. One afternoon (a few days before going to Disney) a member from the site said Disney just released dozens of FP’s for FOP. When I saw the post which was about 10 min after it posted, I went onto the MDE app and sure enough there were SEVEN..yes, SEVEN time slots open for FOP for the day I was going. Not sure what that was all about but Disney spontaneously released extra FP’s for FOP in the middle of the day.

I mentioned this in another thread, saying there was no actual evidence of this. And I was practically run off the board, lol.

If we're talking at the 60 day type of time period then I don't believe there are more added then. Same day there are FP drops added beyond just the moving around of FP's by people changing plans.

To me, it makes sense that Disney would WANT to use FP as a way to control crowd flow.
If they aren't releasing some same day FP, then they aren't making great use of their investment, IMO.

Then again....

Getting a primo FP is a little like winning a lottery. (from the customer's POV.)

It is also possible some folks have greater/lesser access to top tier FP than others.

Getting what you want all the time = bored.
Getting rewarded SOME of the time= lots of dopamine.

If I wanted to make a system like WDW's I'd want my best customers to return many times..

An unexpected FP for a popular ride = a happy customer.

I had more trouble today finding a FP for SDD than I did last Summer when TSL was just a month old. I was getting worried that I was not going to be able to get a fastpass but I got one on the 5th day of our vacation.

This thread began over a year ago.

There are more recent FP drop threads so closing this outdated thread.
