Ya'll will have to forgive my ignorance. This is our first trip staying on site and I'm trying to get a handle on the "benefits" of using WDW transportation.

We're staying at ASMo Oct 7-14. We'd like to do Chef Mickey's for breakfast and then monorail over to MK (but not on a MK EE day). So, from the ASMo, how would we work this out? Bus over to MK, monorail to Contemporary, monorail back to MK? How long can I expect the trip to take (ASMo to Contemporary)? Is there a better way? How can I find out what time the buses run in order to know what time to make my PS?

Grrrr. Does this frustrate anyone else or is it just because I'm new to the whole resort transportation thing? It sure seems more convenient to use your car for things like this. In fact for any resort-to-resort travel, wouldn't you have to use one of the parks as a "hub"?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Take the bus to the MK, then walk to the CR..It's a five minute walk from the bus stop--in fact if you were to get off the bus and walk over to the monorail station, you'd be halway there already, and not have to wait on the next monorail! Then just walk back.

Well, generally speaking if you have a car, use it I think.

However for this breakfast the bus might work very well. Over on the Transportation board a WDW bus driver posts very often...Chip 'n Dale Express. There is a bus early in the am expressly for taking people to character breakfasts. Never done it myself but apparently all you do is tell the driver that you're going to Chef Mickey's and you will be dropped off at the Contemporary. After breakfast you can make the short walk over that Anne mentionned or if you have time before MK opens, enjoy a monorail ride.

The last time we checked, they would not let you park at a resort and then go to the MK even if you were eating at one of their restaurants. The parking pass they give you has a time limit. We were even afraid to walk around in case they thought we were headed to the monorails!

You may want to check to see if they are running the early morning breakfast busses from the all stars. They were last time we checked.

They make stops at/very near the early character breakfasts....then all you have to do is head to your park of choice from where ever you are at.

Enjoy!

Once I had friends staying at the Contemporary, and my plan was to walk from MK. The bus wasn't crowded and the driver was asking everyone their plans. I mentioned I was going to the Contemporary and I guess he thought I was headed for Chef Mickey's. Anyway--he drove to the Contemporary!!! I was tickled and as I got off he said something like "that's Disney -- exceeding guest expectations. It was pixie dust.

dgaston, that happened while using the All Star bus once too. Someone was going to Chef Mickey's so we turned into the Contemporary first, then headed to MK.

I wasn't advocating parking at the CR and leaving the car there to go to MK after breakfast. I was just speaking to the general comment about using the buses rather than a car. We've stayed at the Polynesian many times and for a few years it was very hard to find a spot during the day so trust me I wouldn't encourage anyone to do that. As I said in their situation the bus should work very well. Sorry if I wasn't clear.
