Hi,
I am not new to the boards but haven't been here in about a year. I had to get a new password to login because I had forgotten my old one. Therefore (or therefive) I am reintroducing myself.
I am a single, Christian 41-year-old male from southern New Jersey near Philadelphia. An employee of the United States Government, I love to travel, read, play on the computer (mostly posting to message boards and chatting), and listen to music.
I have been a Disneyfan since watching The Wonderful World of Disney on Sunday nights, but never dreamed that I would actually get a chance to go.
My first trip was my high school senior class trip in April of 1982. The only things I remember about that trip are that I was still on medical restriction from August, 1980 retinal detachment surgery and that there were few rides on which I was permitted, two of them being Pirates of the Caribbean and 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea; that we visited River Country on a hot day and the girls got badly sunburned; that I got lost in Cypress Gardens; and that we flew from 91°F (33°C) in Orlando to 34°F (1°C) in Philadelphia on Monday, April 5, 1982.
My second trip to Disney was to Disneyland from March 1-3, 1998 during a visit by my mom and me to California and my aunt and uncle. My uncle surprised us on February 27, 1998, on the way to his house from the San Francisco airport, by proposing a trip to Disneyland as an early birthday present to me. On March 1 Mom and I, my aunt and uncle, and two cousins rode the 7.5 hours to Anaheim straight down I-5, eating at seemingly every Denny's along the way. We stayed at the Desert Inn and Suites across the boulevard from the park, and I toughed out a bad, ugly ingrown left big toenail that bothered me until I got it removed on July 10, 1998. My uncle got us all two-day passes and my cousins Brandon, Stephanie and I rode everything. I rode Space Mountain twice--once alone and once with Steph--she had met me at the bottom of the exit ramp after my first ride and asked, "Where were you?" "I just rode Space Mountain". "Awww, I wanted to go on it". "Let's go."
My second trip to WDW and first solo; came in 2000; nine months, four days after my mom passed away. After hearing about my brother's trip with his family in March of that year at Dixie Landings (now Port Orleans Riverside), I wanted to go, too. I booked that trip on July 26, 2000 and paid off the bill in full on September 8, 2000. I had the kind of blast on that trip you can't approach with dynamite. If you'd like, I can dig up the trip report and post it.
Three years later I went again, this time for Mousefest 2003. I've not finished the trip report, but I can tell you this: While it's fun to tour alone, it's better with friends.
My fourth trip (third solo) was exhaustingly fantastic last year.
See you on the boards!
Jim
