Where is the rehitching ceremony done?

What time is it best to go?

Can our kids go with us? ( almost 4 yr old dd & 1 1/2 dd)

What is the cost?

You can get rehitched at the Garden Grille in Epcot. Its something they do for free and isnt particularly a "real event."

A few years ago some friends of mine went to WDW for their anniversary. I called the resturaunt and requested a suprise rehitching. They said it was alot of fun and the cast was great. Knowing it was a suprise, the charactures made a big deal about flirting with my friend and challenging her husband.

We did the rehitching ceremony at the Garden Grille on Oct. 6. It was very cute. The staff comes to your table and announces to the restaurant that you have been married for 15 years in my case. They also ask the tables next to you if they were invited to the first wedding. Mickey Mouse joins the staff in "rehitching" you. They bring a cake to celebrate, which, by the way was delicious!!! My 5yrDD videotapped the whole ceremony. We also had DS 4 with us. Staff took photos for us. Very cute and memorable. Ceremony is free. You must request this with your PS, even if CM does not know what you are talking about. Also when you get to the Garden Grille, mention it again to the desk prior to being seated.

Certainly worth it. The restaurant revolves while you eat. Food was good, especially the salad, which is grown in Epcot. Food is served family style in a large skillet brought to the table. Strip steak was also very good. Kids had worms in dirt for dessert. They loved it of course. Did I forget to mention this is a Character Dinner? Chip and Dale and Mickey and Goofy were there the night we "rehitched".

Hope this helps you to decide to go!

WE were rehitched 1 mo after being married :)
Also you can attend ice cream social in afternoon and be rehitched, Kids can be there.

Just a note...we did the rehitching in August. There were no characters involved and no cake. I had requested the rehitching at the same time I made the PS's. Also, when I checked in at the front desk I reminded them about it. Only the original server and another guy took part. It was okay but not what I had been led to believe it was going to be! Some get the cake/characters and others don't. I'm not sure why there is a difference.

We did the rehitching ceremony at the end of August for our anniversary. None of the characters were there for the ceremony, but all of the servers from the whole restaurant came to witness it. It was quick and painless and the cake they brought us afterwards was probably the best I've ever had. (BTW, you can get cupcakes that are the same at the Boardwalk Bakery).

The downside was that after lunch there was still 1/2 a cake left and they boxed it up for us to take with us. It would be too hard to go on the rides with a cake box, not to mention that the icing would melt, so we had to cut our day at Epcot short, but we were able to do some resort hopping instead.

I asked about the rehitching ceremony when I made PS's for the ice cream social at the Garden Grille, but the CM said I couldn't do it during the ice cream social. I was disappointed because I thought DH might enjoy it, and the DS's would get a kick out of it. But some of you have said it can be done during the ice cream social. Should I call the Garden Grille directly and confirm our PS's and request the rehitching ceremony? I don't mind if there's no cake, just thought it would be fun, and a nice reminder for DH that it's not "just all about the kids"!

I believe the characters show up for the "ReHitchin" if they are available. Our server almost forgot ours & he hurried to do it while the characters were on a break. It was okay because the characters seemed to have known & spent a lot more time with us throughout the meal than usual.

I mentioned it when I made the PS. As I remember it, the CM knew what I was talking about & said she'd note it. Reading the boards made me nervous, so I called GG directly to ask if it was on the PS - it was. I started to ask at the desk when we checked in (just to be sure) but the CM winked at me & said everything was covered/handled. I had mentioned that I wanted to surprise DH when I made the PS. The CM had even written THAT down.

Lots of fun - and I'd rather have the certificate than the cake any day! (We got both.)

Hi all:

Thanks for ALL your info. Wow, there is SO much to learn on Dis!

I called & made our PS for the PTC on 10/26 & for the GC on 10/29.

Normally DH makes all the arrangements BUT I am taking on the task! It was fun making the call. I will give a trip report when we get back!

Now it's off to packing for the girls!
