I'm curious to know if anyone has been through the rehitching ceremony and what all is involved with that?

We did this in 2001 on our 15th ann.--at the end of the meal the CM came over and "remarried" us--we got a little certificate "signed" by Mickey, although he wasn't there for the actual ceremony. We had to "kiss to 100" at the end--although they counted by 10s, much to the relief of my children.
The biggest problem here is finding CMs when you get your PS who know what you are talking about--make sure when you check in you mention it again, since some CMs in the WDW-DINE area have never heard of it and although they say they are writing it down, that info may never get to your servers.

Thanks for the info. I know DH is thinking I am crazy, but it just sounds fun. I will make sure to mention it over and over again.

Where is the rehitching ceremony? I think i had heard once that it is in the Garden grill at the Land. Is this correct? ANd, you just tell them when you check in?

Just wondering...Coming up on our 10th want to suprise DW

It is at the Garden Grill. I would recommend making a PS for the meal and asking the CM to note that you want to do the rehitching ceremony on your PS.

When you check-in, remind the CM who is writing your slip to note that you want to do the rehitching ceremony.

I highly recommend asking for Sam (CM/server) -- he is a hoot when doing the ceremony. He managed to get Mickey and Pluto plus several servers lined up for our 25th!

We did the rehitching ceremony in July 2001. The cm who took the PS did know about it. It was quick and painless and our kids got a big kick out of it! Of course they giggle every time mommy and daddy kiss anyway!:p

I've never heard of the rehitching ceremony. Can you give me some more details on the rehitching part. The CM performs the ceremony? It sounds pretty funny but before I would try it for our 10th, I'd like to know a little more about it. Do they embarass you or make you do anything stupid? The kissing part is OK with me but what else do you have to do? Thanks.

There's nothing stupid about it, but they do get a lot of people involved.

Your server will do this at the end of your meal, but before dessert is served. You are asked to stand.

(Note: ask your server to get another person to take pictures or videotape the "event." It makes a cute reminder!)

Server explains you will exchange "vows" and then kiss to the count of 100. Server asks DH if he takes this lady to be his wife AGAIN. DH says Yes or I do. Server as DW if she takes this gentleman to be her hubby AGAIN. DW says I do. Server then says something like "By the power vested in my by WDW, I now pronouce you so on and on."

Then you KISS!! They usually get everyone to clap & count while you kiss. They count to 10 by 1's, then from 10 to 100 by 10's (so you aren't kissing forever).

When you finish, there's thunderous applause and you can sit back down. The server will bring you a nice certificate and a small cake (serves 4 to 5). The cake is free -- it's your dessert. Warning: it probably won't keep 'cause the icing is whipped creme, so better finish it off there.

It's a cute, sweet ceremony that can be done by any couple. When Sam (CM) did ours, he grabbed Mickey and Pluto to be in our "rehitchin' party", plus 4 or 5 servers. We had a ball doing it!

Make sure you remind the CM who checks you in -- don't depend on the note on the PS. It is easily missed. And ask if Sam is available -- I can't recommend him highly enough. The man is a huge ham and makes this a fun, memorable, magical experience!

I placed a PS for 2:30 and requested the re-hitching ceremony, but the CM that took my PS didn't know anything about it. I thougt I would just mention it again when we go to sign in for our tour of The land and then again when we sign in for our PS. I realize nothing is guaranteed, but it sure does sound fun. Thanks for all the info.

We did this last year and we got our PS at 4pm which is considered a slow time and we had Mickey stand in for the whole ceremony since there wasn't that many people there. Even got pictures with Mickey and the "preacher", so if you want more interaction from the Disney folks, go at off times.

We also made PS and had rehitching noted on it.

DH knows nothing about it-hope the kids can keep
a secret!!

I'm surprising DH on our May trip. this sounds like a hoot

You notice a pattern starting here?

The wives are "re-hitching" to surprise
DH's.

I know this has been asked before, but I can't remember...do they do the re-hitching at the Ice Cream Social, or just at meals? TIA

I believe they do it during the Ice Cream Social as well as the meals.

Oh, I surprised DW, sorry to break the pattern.

Any surprise is a good surprise (esp. at WDW)!!
