So I booked my rehearsal dinner at Ohana's for August 30th at 6:50pm and they told me they can't guarantee that we would sit together:confused3 Has anyone ever run into this problem??

We did not do a rehearsal dinner at 'Ohana but two nights before the wedding we had 16 people there for dinner (I think our reservations were for around 7:00pm). We had quite a wait but they put us a two large round tables right next to each other.

I know some other brides that had large dinners there and they got the long tables in the center.

my wedding consultant mentioned that Ohana doesn't guarantee seating together. I think that is really lame, but you can't beat the price and the food so I'm going to just deal with it.

This is just their policy (and that of many Disney restaurants). It usually works out better if you reserve right when they open or right before they close. Otherwise, be prepared to wait a while to be seated.

Being from NY(and living in Vegas for a bit) I have learned 2 important things about reservations.
1- if you have a big group and you want to sit together, make the reservation at a unpopular time(ie 4:30, or 8:30)
2- tipping the host/hostess when you check in makes things go smoother, and ususally helps get things done.

hope this helps a bit, honestly though two seperate groups isnt the worst, you get to flip from table to table and actually talk to people instead of yelling across the room.

Hey mermaidbride,
I had the same situation with my Rehearsal Dinner. My Fiance's Mom talked to a castmember named Whitney, who I believe is in charge of events at Ohana. Whitney told us that if we wanted to sit together, we would have to be there for the first seating. Ohana opens at 5:00, so we are supposed to get there at about 4:45. I believe that we are either supposed to get two large tables or a bunch of tables grouped together. I hope this helps!

That's really weird. We had our rehearsal dinner at Ohana with around 35-40 people. We organized it with our wedding planner and she took care of everything. We showed up, we were sat immediately at like 7pm or so, and we all ate together. We all sat at the long tables. People made speeches, we gave the wedding party their gifts, etc. It was a fantastic time! It was especially great because it was so close to the WP that we all walked over together right after the wedding rehearsal.

i think the more money you are spending on your wedding the more special attention you get from the planners. In our case we are doing an escape and so our planner has nothing to do with the reception part. I asked and she just sent me the number for dining to do it myself. kinda stinks but thats how the world works.

I would suggest an early or late seating. We had our rehearsal dinner at Ohana and we picked the early seating. We all got to sit together and there was about 40 of us.

I am planning on having our dinner there after our Escape wedding and was told that large groups need to reserve either the first seating (5:00) or the last seating (not sure on time for that) in order to be assured of sitting together at one of the long tables in front of the grill. The other thing you could do is try to go through grand gatherings as they are used to making reservations for big groups and will know all the ins and outs. Good luck- let us know how your experience turns out.
