I could have sworn I ran into an official disney parks blog mentioning a rehearsal at MK the next couple nights with a warning that the monorail resorts will see and probably hear the music for it.

Did anyone else happen to run into this? does anyone have any clue what it's for? I just assumed it might be a holiday fireworks test run but now I'm curious (and what dates, couldn't hurt to get some dole whips and check out what's gonig on from the poly beach)

Yep just the holiday parade and for the new Christmas party Castle show.

do you happen to know why that might be heard from the resorts nearby? that part seemed off or was it this sites bad wording of what was going on?

At night the area is much quieter. If they are blaring music in the Magic Kingdom it can be heard from the MK resorts. Even during the day you can sometimes hear things like the castle stage show from outside MK.

that makes sense, i'm not usually around that area to hear it overnight. I do know what every fireworks show sounds like and I can tell when they are using different shells or it was loaded wrong or misfires. It's also my night alarm clock which sucks when your trying to get to bed early.

edit to add: it also really sucks when they have to fire it off overnight when weather caused them to cancel it, if loaded they legally need to still set it off for safety reasons. 2am fireworks sounds like it would be great until you can get back to sleep after it.

We stayed in a PVB lake view studio last week. Often during the day, but definitively at night, we could hear pretty much everything (albeit faintly) from over at MK. All parades, background music, firework music, train whistles and an occasional announcement could be heard. Volume seemed to depend on wind direction and speed. Sound bounces off the water pretty well. Of course, you had to have the balcony door open or you didn't hear anything.

It was pretty neat.

We were there the week before the storm. On a Monday morning. at the MK, fireworks would go off every 30 minutes or so. It all stopped when rain and storms came in.

I speculated it was testing for the Christmas show.

Not sure about you, I personally do not start my fireworks test until after Thanksgiving. WDW CM's are over achievers and more organized then me.
