Rehab & Reconstruction

We are to check into the cabins Thursday (36 hours from now:goodvibes ), and I called tonight to see if I could request a cabin close to pool. They transferred me about 3 times, all very nice CM's, but I could tell something was going on. The last one must have been a manager and told me there would be a possibility that they would be moving us. I asked if we could move to Saratoga since we are DVC members. She told me couldn't really tell me for sure until we got there, but She suggested I call DVC to see if they could help. I really do mind moving, if they move us to larger space, but I want to know before hand and not be moved after one day, which is what it sounded like. First thing tomorrow I am calling to hopefully know where we will be staying. There must be some major refurbishing going on. I will report back as soon as I know more. :goodvibes

We are going labor day weekend.....do you think being proactive by calling and asking if they are going to have some construction work still going that I would volunteer to move to another hotel, they would offer? I remember last time they started moving people they were told to wait for the call. I would take any of them except for SSR.

So they are doing work on the loops. That is great!!!!!!!

I was afraid they were going to cancel the renovations.

I'm not so happy about it. I just got a res for 2009 (without any discounts yet) for next year and with tax it came to $110.25! There is NO way we will pay that much for a campsite. Taking it for now and will try to get better deal as time goes by, but this is crazy. We're bringing our own house for goodness sakes. We can stay in a mderate hotel for about the same or less if we get a discount. I'm not happy at all.

I agree with you on this one...$110.25 and we furnish the accommodations, sheets, towels and clean the facilities!

On another thread the consensus was that there would be a more realistic price released in August. I hope so or else our plans will change as well. We'll go to Washington D. C., which was supposed to be a separate trip, for part of the week and end the week with a long weekend at the Fort. I can save $50-$60 per night by doing this.

We are checking into the cabins on Aug. 15th and haven't received a call yet. But we are part of a grand gathering. 2 other families have campers, so maybe we won't get the call.
