We are planning on November 24th - December 2nd 2006. The value season starts on the 26th. It kills me to think that we will still be paying regular season rates for our last 6 nights that fall in the value season. My first thought was to just start the trip on the 26th instead of the 24th, but my DH really wants to leave the day after Thanksgiving.

Here are my questions....How would I go about making 2 seperate reservations? Would I explain to them when I call to make the reservation what I am up to? Do I ask at that time to stay in the same room? What are the odds that we won't have to switch rooms? Is this something people do all the time? Any good/bad experiences with doing this?

If it was just a matter of a few dollars I wouldn't even be worried about this, but I figured it out and it's a difference of almost $300.00.

If it makes any difference, we are planning on booking at the Wilderness Lodge.

i know what you mean! We are going next year 8/27-9/3/2006, we were going to go 8/26-9/3/2006, but on 8/26 its still regular season and then on the 27th its value season. By changing the day it went down a couple hundred dollars! I am bummed because I wanted that extra day, we still might fly down early but stay offsite so we don't have to pay regular rate at Disney.

It is absolutely no problem to book two different reservations. They don't care. And yes, you can request to have your reservations linked and stay in the same room.

That way, all you have to do, is go down to the front desk and get new room keys.

Yes I would call and make two seperate reservations.

You will have to check out and check in again and you may have to move but it would be worth it to save some $$$

we're also going next year 8/25 - 9/3!! I can't wait so we're going 2 days early. Booking room only for 8/25 - 8/26 and then a package for 8/27 - 9/3. I just can't wait and Sunday to Sunday isn't long enough for me!! We're at CSR. Where are you staying?

Hi
We at staying at POR!!! Are you doing the dining plan pooch?

Making two separate reservations is certainly worth it. We did it for our last trip at the AKL. Checking in and out was a breeze. Tell them when you are checking in the first time that you have a continuing reservation. This helps them know to keep you in the same room, rather than thinking the room will be emptying out. One other thing, you need to pay two separate deposits since you have 2 reservations.
