WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A REGULAR ROOM AT THE ALL STAR MOVIES RESORT AND A PREFERRED ROOM?

OTHER THAN THE PRICE!!
THANKS

The preferred rooms are closer to the food court and bus stops. I know that the Fantasia buildings are definately preferred and the Toy Story buildings may be - it just depends on who you talk to.

The topic of prefered rooms almost becomes a debate sometimes but here is my view. We stayed at ASMo in January and wanted to stay in Toy Story. When I called to make my reservation I was asked about a prefered room for 10.00 a night more. I asked and
learned it was closer to all the aminities and agreed. I later learned that only the fantasica building was included and DS was disapointed and we almost droped the prefered request but decided not. We were trilled with our room location. WE were only steps from the food court, bus stop etc. I think we had the closest room. Our room did face the pool and it did create a little noise early on and this was January so if noise would be a problem for you, you might want to request a room that did not face the pool.WE did love looking out at the pool and the little noise was not a real problem. It is true that toy story and Dalmation is almost as close and if we were SURE we would get one of these buildings we would not pay the extra again but building request without prefered room rate are just request and you may or maay not get it. It was so worth it to us to run to the food court to toast poptarts for breakfast or to have a short walk to the bus stop on a cool morning. We like ASMo and will return and will use the prefered room.

Jordans Mom ....

I have booked two rooms using the mousesavers.com
code and they told me it was only for Preferred. They noted
the request for Toy Story. Do you think since I would be
"down grading" my room I might have a chance ? My son
is really looking forward to staying in Toy Story.

Also, if how close is Fantasia to "Andys Room"? Lastly,
did you have to do laundry, I have heard horror stories
about the laundry room be pack 24 hrs a day ???

Thanks
Cheryl

Cheryl,

I think you have a great idea.I don't know if it will work but it's worth a shot. I asked for the prefered room with toy story building and they told me only fantasia was prefered. I never thought about down grading but it might work. If you get fantasia you could always ask (very nicely) at check-in if they have any thing in Toy Story. The Story Buildings(there are two) were quite close to fantasia and in a very good location. If we had been assured of this building that is what we would have gone with. My DS wanted this also but was happy to stay in the "Mickey" building. The toy stoy building has better theming!
We did not use the laundry but it was close to our room (as was everything) We were there in January and the crowds were very low. I did see some people in there but never a crowd. BTW.It is close to the pool so you could throw in a load while you are at the pool. It is right beside the kiddie pool if your DS is young enough for that. Hope this helps a little. We liked the resort and were happy with our room. Please feel free to ask me anymore questions you have.

When I asked for the Toy Story building for our trip this May I was told that it is a preferred building. I don't think they have it all together. I guess it will take them a while to get the hang of the preferred rooms.

clm3 - we did laundry here last September. Your best bet is to go to the laundry room at the Mighty Ducks pool. We never had trouble getting a washer or dryer here. We had to do laundry several days because my husband kept wanting to wear the same comfortable outfits. Don't go by the times listed on the wall - they are incorrect! It takes at least 3 rounds in the dryer to get your clothes finished.

Hi Jordan's Mom!

Your visit sounds perfect! By any chance, do you remember the room number? That would be great to know! Thanks!

Mabfibshi,

You are right we loved our whole stay. The room number was 8855. Hope you get as lucky!

Thanks, Jordan's mom! I also wondered, what floor was your room on, the ground floor?? We were hoping for the 3rd floor --- so would the numbers coordinate somehow? For example, do all the rooms where yours was, regardless of 1st, 2nd, or 3rd floor, end with the same number, regardless of the floor? Hope that made sense....??? Please let me know what you remember, ok? Thanks again!!!!!!

mafibisha,

We were on the 2nd floor. I don't know how the numbering system works. This is a very large resort with lots of rooms. Perhaps you could tell them this number and ask for the room above it. That would be ideal as the last night there was a new family above us that had some children that ran around a lot in the room. I had forgotten this and it was just that one night but 3rd floor would solve that too.

Thanks so much, Jordans mom! I am really excited, now! Did you call ahead and request that room, or did you just luck-out? I simply can not WAIT to go!!!

We stayed at Sports last summer in Surf's Up, which is now a preferred building. When we go back Christmas we are staying there again. I agree with Jordan's Mom, it's worth the $10 fee to know which building you're going to be in.

Mafibisha, maybe you can have your request for a room location added to your reservation. When I booked our trip I asked for a room facing the pool, on the third floor. I had the CM put the pool request first since that's the one that is most important to me.

Hey Disney Junkie,

Thanks so much! We just extended our stay by two days --- and the only resort available was ALSports! The CRO gave us Surfs Up, saying it was preferred, so I'm thrilled to hear your confirmation, too!

Any specific room or area of rooms we should request? I WILL call CRO and request a room overlooking the pool. And did you feel this was also the closest to the food court and bus stop, too?

Thanks again!!!!!!!!

Mafibisha,

That was just the room we lucked out with. I don't think a lot of people do the prefered thing and most of those would not know a particular room to request so I bet your chances of getting that room would be good. I would fax my request a couple days ahead and then ask again at check-in. Have as much fun as we did. We can't go back until next year and it hurts so MUCH!!

I believe the 3rd floor room would be 8955. :)
