Registration is open for 2010 WDW Marathon

Marcy, I see by your blog that you are choosing the half. You will definitely have a good amount of time to train for that event and make it in the time limit. You can do this, but don't let yourself wait for your training to begin.

Now is the time you need to get your muscles strengthened and begin. You can do this!

I look forward to reading your progress and getting to know you here on the WISH Team.

see so thats a way to do it..plan now...worry later, lol
hey it will give you a year to plan and like you said it does carry over.
take a walk on the marathon side, lol
see how giddy I am..and I never did one before..just wait Im sure till it all hits me that I will be one of you next year (atheletes),:worship:

good point! :) I'll check back in later today with a status update! then we can hopefully be happy and giddy together!

Hate to break it to you but you read it wrong. The fees are not transferable and do not carry over from year to year. The only thing they will do for you is, if you let them know in writing by a certain date that you will be unable to participate, they will hold a spot for you in the next years race...you would have to pay again for the race though.

I will say that once you commit and register, it is a great incentive to follow through with a big, hairy, audacious, goal...

GO FOR IT!

Thought it sounded too good to be true! Hmm...still debatinggggggggg!

I did it!!!!! Registered for the half!! EEEEEEKKKKKK!!!!!!!

Now i"m just on hold with reservations trying to book a hotel!

I'm going to do the full!:rotfl:  :scared:

I'm going to join Team in Training. Do I need to sign up now or just join them and they will sign me up. I'll be giving them a call in a bit to see if they can answer my question.

Being an alum of TnT (did the 2006 Disney MArathon with them) I can tell you not to register for the marathon as TnT will do that for you - it is part of the program. Good luck.

Mike "GG" B

Going for Dopey #3 in 2010 and DS will be going Goofy #3 (maybe he will finally learn to train for these things).

Thanks Mike! I was just about to pick up the phone and try to reach them again when your message popped up. I can't wait for next year. I was just nervous about being locked out of the races. That is how I ended up with the Princess half this year.

haha, great minds think alike! I'm staying at Pop. Right now the room just has me in it, but I'm pretty sure my one friend might do the half with me. :) I also have a few people that want to come just to be my cheering section.

I too have a free flight, but through my credit card. So I'm going to use my card points to get down to FL.

I'm in Hackensack, in Bergen County. Only about 6 miles from the George Washington Bridge. :)

OK...time to head out! I'm going to start writing a pre-trippie tomorrow! yayyyyy!

Disneyrunning.com has a link to the form for the DVC registration for 2010.

Going to mail mine for the half this weekend!

I had such a good time with all the WISHER's this year....thank you for being such a great support crew!

Can I join the group?

I did my first half marathon last weekend (I saw some Diser's - great shirts!!).

I've just registered for the half again in 2010! :cool1:

:cool1:

You both are awesome..good luck.
I think the great thing about the Goofy is that even though us half'ers or whole'rs (okay so its not a word, lol)arent doing the 2 races with you we get to share at least a part of it with the goofy ones as well.

thanks!

I LOVED the weekend - it was amazing. The enthusiasm of the racers, the amazing spirit of the people cheering you on - it was fantastic!

I was nervous going in - it was my first race ever - but the Disney surroundings made it totally doable.

I started training with c25K in June (to start getting into some semblance of cardiovascular shape) and then started my official half marathon training in August.

it was hard work, but worth it in the end. I did a run / walk for the race and ended up finishing in under my goal time. I think the excitement of the day just helped me go fater than during my training sessions.

I trained with a fanny pack, and carried my cell phone, Sport beans and keys with me (so that I could also wear that in the race and not be affected) and was totally fine.

One thing I will do better next year is have more "breakfast-y" food with me. I was STARVING by the half-way mark and the sport beans just weren't cutting it. I needed crackers with peanut butter or something similar.

You are awesome..see Im starting from scratch as well.no athletic experience behind at all but that is about to change, lol

I am going to check out the c25k because I have heard great things about it.
I also ordered all the book recommendations on here..running for mortals marathons for mortals and one other..they have the training also starting for me about August but im going treadmill shopping this weekend and starting now..so that by the time official training begins I will be able to breathe just a wee bit,LOL

sounds like you had a great experience and I am so inspired by all of you here that run /walk or do a combo of both. I plan on walking because I have a knee that I have had 2 surgeries on and really dont want to have any problems with it by running.

I am doing this along and also traveling alone. My husband is being great about it and being really supportive but my family..mom sister ,etc are all making me feel goofy for even thinking about this. See I need to lose at least 75 lbs to be healthy again but Im already down 80lbs. They think Im nuts when I havent been active in a long time. and then say to me "why not do something local?"
but hey thats not Disney,a reward has to be there for myself and what better reward then to cross a finish line in Disney.not only that but to acually do the half thru Disney,oh man, that is like a dream come true, its like having the park opened especially for me and a few thousand of my new closest friends   but I know I am going to do it and wish that they could at least root me on a little but I guess they cant so Im leaning on my fellow WISH members for some cheering and rah rah rah's.

I only discovered this message board AFTER this past weekend's race. :( And I'd love to join all of you at next year's race @ WDW (I enjoyed it so much), but we're moving overseas and getting back to the USA probably won't happen. I hope to do it when we return to the States in a few years though. Good luck and have fun in 2010!

Just signed up for the half in 2010!!

Now if only I could book my hotel room. How long until they open up the reservations for 2010??

:sunny:

well, to continue the pattern started by Mooshu (Goofy #4) and Roxy (Goofy #3), I just signed up for Goofy #2.
