Registration is open for 2010 WDW Marathon

well, to continue the pattern started by Mooshu (Goofy #4) and Roxy (Goofy #3), I just signed up for Goofy #2.

Well, then, just to add to the pattern, I signed up for Goofy #1. :teeth:

:welcome: new WISHers!!!! :cool1:

sunshine girl - It you are wanting to stay on property, you can get a hotel room now. You have to call for reservations; you can't do it on-line. The only downside is that the 2010 rates haven't come out yet. But, you can put a room on hold.

Oh!! Duh. I better get on it then and reserve a room. I just have to decide where I want to stay! Thanks!

fluffernutter - you will be great and you definitely won't be alone! It's a long time until next January, as your training progresses I bet your family starts seeing you in a new light and maybe even consider going with you! I'm new to this group (lurking for the most part) and have "seen" the most amazing supportive spirit in this group. Reminds you that there are truly some wonderful people out there.

frndshpcptn - I'm struggling with the whole concept of pacing! Cracks me up since I work with numbers day in and day out but for whatever reason this completely leaves me confounded! :crazy2: I'm going to be nosey, what was your run/walk pace for the race? How do most people figure out what their comfort pace is? I'm worried that when the weather gets nice and I'm outside I'll start to stroll instead of keeping up a good pace. Thanks in advance for any help and advice you can offer.

Anyone else can add their thoughts on the whole pacing thing!

Lisa

Just signed up for the half in 2010!!

Now if only I could book my hotel room. How long until they open up the reservations for 2010??

:sunny:

I called the Disney marathon registration number to book my room! And like someone else said...the pricing isn't out yet, so I think I got Pop for $150 a night but the CM said when the prices go down, just call them and ask them to change the reservation!

Hi All!

Started running last year and my sister and I are going to do the 2010 Disney marathon, our first, to mark my 40th birthday!!!

We just registered today and I'm so excited!!!

Congrats all on this years race! Does anyone know how to get the DVC application for the whopping $5 discount? I tried the DVC site, but they only have last years form out there. I tried to e-mail them but have not heard a thing (5 business days running --- pun intended). Just getting anxious to enter my first full after running the half for 4 years. Thanks for the help! ::yes::

Question for you guys...

I plan to walk the half marathon in Disney next year. But, I will be doing it with the Team In Training team...so am I supposed to register? Or will they do that later? I don't want it to fill up? How will they know I am coming?

Check with your TnT group to be sure, but I believe they handle your registration.

fluffernutter....congrats on signing up for your first half! I was in the same place as you last year. I'd never run in ANY race but was asked by a friend if I would do the half at WDW with her, and being the Disney geek that I am, I said yes.

I don't know much about the C25k, but I used a book called Marathoning for Mortals by John Bingham to train. If I (a 50+ year old woman) can do it, so can you. I'm happy to say that I did finish.

I'm planning to sign up again for next year. Just waiting to see if DH wants to join me!

Ok, count me in as a newbie too! I decided 2009 is going to be the year of change & what better to motivate me than a half marathon in my favorite place?!

I've never run a marathon before, so I'm not sure what to put as proof as my time?? Any help would be appreicated.

Okay, I've decided to do the 1/2 again in 2010. I want to get comfortable running that distance and get in some good times before committing to a marathon. Plus, I'm hesitant to train for my first full in November/December.

I'm going to wait until next month before I officially register. I want to finish paying off this trip first :thumbsup2

For the 2009 race, I think they only needed a proof of time if you intended to finish in 2:45 or sooner. When I registered last year, I hadn't run a race before so I think I put down 2:45. After running a couple of races, I sent them my results by e-mail ... but you can also do that in person when you're picking up your packet.

HTH :goodvibes
