I hope all of you will ride the team slides, regardless of your feelings towards vmk staff. I also would hope you open your rides up for everyone to enjoy, rather than tear them down.
this is well a intentioned comment but it made me laugh a little, I know from the last even and I am guessing they will feel better locking the door to that room and not entering for a few months. In addition the benefit to not being accepted is you don't have to sit in your room all weekend and you can make some of your credit back catching ghosts.

I registered at 10:20 am Eastern time, I did not miss the cut off. VMK messed up!

By cut-off I was refering to the 200 team limit, not the times.

Yes, you have the advantage of not having to sit in the start room to keep the slide open, but I still think it would be nice to show some support for those that are competing.

Oh Please! You cannot tell me that all 200 teams were entered by 10:20 am Eastern Time, which is just 20 minutes after opening.
VMK messed up, plain and simple.

Glad your team got in Greenie, but you sound very condescending to the teams who are mourning their loss due to a VMK misstep! I'm sure that is not what you intended but it is a very open wound for teams who are just finding out they have been declined.
Remember most everyone had to have their rooms planned (and named) and probably most rooms were built or mostly built by the time the registration was put in. That is a lot of work, a lot of credits and a lot of disappointment.
It also seems more than a bit unfair if there really were over 200 teams entered by 10:00 am EST. What about the west coast folks? Is it reasonable to expect teams to register in the middle of the night to even have a chance to be accepted?

You are probably right, misery loves company - Everyone be sure to ride the rides even if you got knocked out it will be a blast!

sorry to hear you guys didn't make it. i suggest you still make your slide though, because i'd love to come ride it!

Teams that registered on Tuesday and Wednesday were still getting acceptance messages. I'm convinced something happened between certain hours on monday and maybe into early tuesday.

Wow! Hope you feel better attacking me. It was not meant to be condescending at all. I am sorry your teams didn't make the first 200. Maybe you missed that part of my post. But while teams did not get accepted and for reasons we do not know why - lets take the time to enjoy your friends and fellow Dis'rs slides and show your support for those teams. There were alot of bad apples during the Everest Ride Competition and I just would like to not see that happen again.

I know I've had my share of disappointments (Halloween anyone?), but
I would rather have VMK let me down than to NOT have VMK here at all.

I'm sorry that people had experienced those screw-ups, but I don't think
it's fair to attack others on the DIS.

SO sorry to hear that.
:(

Knowing your rooms, I bet you had something really incredible planned.
:headache:

Still no word on this end..but it's looking pretty grim I'd say.

Do I foresee another "everest chair type" slide-a-thon?

Heh, i was thinking that too. They are going to give us some randome thing, like the surfboard table and we have a week to show it off before it is put on sale.LOL, another EE event anyone? Oh well, at least i got a cool pin

LOL LOL LOL!! My team from the Everest Event is still waiting for their pins. Four emails to the black hole. Maybe this decline was a blessing in disguise!

Greenie is a sweetheart. She is 100% right, listen my team got accepted so don't rain on my parade and try to belittle our happiness either. I feel for the teams that didnt make it but it's not the end of the world. Move on with your lives!

Building rooms was jumping the gun, the site said only the first 200 so you took a big chance in building rooms before you knew you got accepted. You have 3 weeks to build there is no rush.

first come first served is exactly that. I am sorry to the teams I really am. I know how it hurts heck I was upset when we didnt win EE. But my life went on but i tell you this is my last team event ever and despite getting accepted i am just discouraged by it all and the bitterness. I am not saying any of you my dis family but in general. turns out i will now be in cancun that weekend :sunny: and now am in a bind. i dont have a laptop and need to hang out at some cafe to get on vmk and hope it works.

I've got a VMK "big wig"s phone line that helped clear things up when we recieved no response during the EE sign up, I'll be trying that again Monday and hopefully, my little peep status will benifit my lack of intelligence.

Why are you trying to circumvent the processs? you made an error and was fairly turned down. I really dont like when some players think they are due some exception. I have friends who sent in picture perfect registrations and still waiting, and you make a mistake and now trying to get squeezed in? Be real here and let other have a chance who didnt make a mistake.

This is a shame and it reminds me of the Everest.

This time there is the 200 team thing. I still don't think that was a fair number when you think of how many people play VMK.

It seems that anytime they do an event it disappoints people. Either we crash, we can't get in the room, it's not run fairly, or we don't get the change to participate at all. Even the staff room games are disappointing 1 room with 4,000 people playing in the evenings good grief!

I wish they would do a better job of events and make each event better than the last without creating more problems. This 200 team limit was probably to assure that they would be able to judge all rooms making the event better since it was frustrating for people not to have had their room judged and someone has to be last. Unfortunately it created the problems we are talking about today.

A while back I just realized that it is probably not going to change so if I am going to play VMK I am going to know that they are going to disappoint me sometimes and delight me more often.

This doesn't mean I won't debate the way that VMK is run because there is a lot of room for that, I just don't take it so personally any more.

Only on a comment here. I think they were trying to simplify things for the staff and the judging...however we monitored the number of base camps open throughout the entire Everest event. While we don't know how many entered I had assumed it was 100 plus and manning the base came the entire time was a requirement. At any given time throughout the weekend the number of open base camps sat consistently around 40.

So I am not sure it will be an effective method of simplification. What works in their favor is many of us decided smaller was better, less people and less rooms. This means faster judging theoretically.

LOL.. I had to look up circumvent.. people and their big words...

I don't think I'm special, but I do think I'm one of the most dedicated VMK gamers that the game has. And I've formed a team that consists of the best people in VMK that I will ever meet. If my gaming history can help save these peoples efforts and hopes, then utilizing it to see what it's worth is the least I can do for them.. and for myself!

But I can totally understand your vent, I wouldn't want to compete against me either! Maybe I should just give up correcting the error and make way for the errorless? Gotcha!

Are you joking or just arrogant?

Winning awards does not make someone the most dedicated VMK player. What about some of the people on this board that help people day in and day out. VMK is many thing to many people and I don't think we need to start putting labels on what makes a dedicated player.

Some people didn't make it in the contest because they registered correctly if you made a mistake you need to stand by that and not expect special treatment because if they do it for you they have to do it for everyone and then we have to make exceptions for the people that didn't understand, and the exceptions have to be made for the people that work and couldn't be on the computer first thing in the morning and on and on and each of those people also had teams that are going to be disappointed. I am going to bet their teams are made up of the best players they have ever met.

There was a post on this board about how to register and how to be careful and if you are such a dedicated player then surely you know how picky the are about the registrations.

So in your mind should they have 201 teams so your can participate or maybe take one less team that registered correctly?

Joking arrogantly. :rolleyes1

I wasn't speaking by terms of "awards", I meant by hours in game, YES.. I help people when it's not a "see main page" required answer, embarked on countless VMK based WDW trips (typhoon lagoon 2 days ago!), and a range of very good VMK CM friends... But I thank you for noticing the awards!

I expect special treatment from VMK, BECAUSE THEY GIVE IT! I've read stories from children on these boards from kids getting robbed and staff hooking them up with inferno. I myself have had staff (and CM) go above and beyond the call of duty for me when it comes to problems I've had, and I know their potential and how they can help. They even helped us in the past in the same way to verify we were in the EE event when we got no response. Give VMK more credit, I do.

I think you're cute too!!

The first one.. what was it again? :confused3
To be honest, sending it back to me with a, "Here fix this right quick" would have been the bomb!

I absolutely positively agree with you!

I recieved an e-mail stating we were accepted Wednesday evening. Others were accepted earlier. Sorry you didn't make it, maybe others submitted their entry earlier in the morning.
