Registering Kids in different levels on new system?

Just wondering, do you think the new system will allow you to register the kids in the the age group that is one lower than their age if the parent wants to move them down?

I have read from many others that they have been able to put their 13 year olds in the Lab's 10-12 year old group rather than putting them with the teen group.

Will this be something you will have to do once you board, or is the system allowing you to pick which age group to place your child in when you register online?

Thanks,
DJ

I don't know about a 13 year old since they don't actual register for the Stack? I don't know if you will have the option. I want to move my nearly 10 into the 10-12 group to be with her sister. There was an area when you register the kids to add a note. This is where I made a request to move the one DD up to be in her sister's group.

I was wondering the same thing. My dd will have just turned 8 and I wanted her to be in the 5-7 group so she coud be with her sister, who will have just turned 5. I didn't know if I needed to talk to someone in person to do this.

From what I understand from a couple of sources, one being the guide on allearsnet dot com is that a child who is within one month of his/her birthday can join the next age group older, but not younger, and that no other exceptions can be accomodated.

I can see for safety purposes, as well as chaos control, where that they would have strict guidelines or else parents would have children moved up and down age groups to the point to where that it would look like they didn't have age groups at all.

We actually planned our trip so that our children and the other children traveling with us would fall within the "right" age groups to suit us.

In this trip report from March:

....they reported being able move their 13 year old to the 10-12 year old group. This is the only reason we are considering a cruise for that year. We do not want our 7th graders in with high school kids. Last time there were many 7th graders in the Lab (but they were 12, our kids start later to school here in Indiana, so at age 13 they are in 7th grade).

I have a feeling with the new system we will need to register them once we are on board. That would make sense since they wouldn't be expecting a registration for them at 13. I'm sure we can figure it out once we are on board.

I just wondered if anyone had been able to register their child for a level other than the one they would be placed in by Disney with the new system.

Thanks!

We moved my 10 y.o. grandson down to the 8-9 y.o. group so he could be with my other grandson last September ... it wasn't a problem ... but I don't think you can switch them back and forth.

There are always exceptions made. My DS was put in the 3-4 group at age 5 to be with his 3 yo sister. On our last cruise DD was being a little anxious about us leaving her at the club & the counselor told us that we could move her up from the 3-4 group to be with her brother in the 5-7 group if that would help her feel more comfortable. She was 4 at the time. A former head counselor on The Magic posted a thread here that answered alot of questions. It was called something like "Myths & misconceptions about the kids club." They use alot of common sense & want all of the kids to have a good time.

Did a search and found the thread you were talking about:

Sounds like even if we can't do what we want with the online system, Disney will allow us to register them the way we want to once we board the ship. They sound like they are trying to work with the parents to place the kids in the best group.

Thanks for the thread suggestion!

(BTW, LOVE the picture of Cinderella and you DD).

We just got back from a land/sea cruise. I have 4 kids that were in the clubs. My ds9 was in the lab and my g/b twins who are 7 wanted to be with him not in the to quote them "little kids club". When we registered them we explained that they wanted to stay with their brother and they had no problem with it. They did note on their papers that it was on a trial basis but I knew that it would be fine and it did work out great! :teeth:
They had a blast in the clubs and can't wait to cruise again.
