I've been lurking for a while - trying to control my planning obsession! We are going on the 3 day (I told my daughter this was not long enough!) cruise on the Land and Sea package on 9-18-08. Things have certainly changed since the Big Red Boat days that I was familiar with - what a shock to learn about ADR's.

I'm excited - but like the other newbie - a little overwhelmed.

Welcome. We are going on the 3 day cruise June 09. Be sure and share your experiences. I'd love to hear all about it! :cool1:

Thanks! I will post. I'm a little nervous as this is a first cruise for my husband, son-in-law and granddaughter. I so want it to go well!

We did the Land & Sea Package in 2006, 4 days land and 3 days sea. We (my DS16 and me) had a great and had planned on going in August of this year for his graduation but we ended up going to Ireland/UK instead with his choir.

You'll have a blast!

Welcome to the DIS:thumbsup2

Most of us have planning obsessions... that is why we are here:) :rotfl:

Be sure to check out the cruise board for info tips and fun with your upcoming cruise...

Ireland - now that's a trip I'd love to make someday!

I would have preferred to 4 days at sea but now we're thinking that we may just forego the Nassau excursions and stay on the ship - my daughter and I have been to Nassau - my DH and DSIL would hate the straw market. Although maybe my DH and I will sneak off for the afternoon excursion to hit the casino at Atlantis in the afternoon.

Did you get to even relax on the ship?

lol...yes I guess that must be true (about the planning!). I've been reading until I can't see - finding this board was how I knew we were in deep trouble as I didn't know about ADR's!

We left onThursday, morning via from WDW and arrived at the docks around 2:00 PM. You can't board until 12:00ish or something (I may have the times - my memory as to times isn't what it used to be!). The ship leaves port at about 4:00 PM. We ate lunch on board because there was a counterservice open once we boarded.

There are so many activities to see that open you leave port you eat, do activities, and go to bed. When you wake up you are close to port so you eat breakfast and then you dock. The time in port is from about 8:00 until 5:00. Then you leave port with meals, activities, bed and wake up docking at Castaway Cay. You depart there at around 5:00 PM and then you wake up to get ready for customs and docking to disembark.

If you do the 4 days at sea then there is one day at sea.

My DS16 spent most of his time in the teen club. I never even saw him except to go to bed. I went to the movie and the theatre alone!

Welcome tot he group! DCL is soooooo much better than the Big Red Boat. Your in for a treat. :goodvibes

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone. :) I have learned so much from all of the experts here!

Welcome!
We've yet to do the cruise. Our youngest is only 3 so we'll wait a few years.
LOVE LOVE LOVE the Poly. It is a fabulous place to stay. Make sure you are on the beach at least one night to watch the water pageant and then watch the fireworks over MK. It is breathtaking!
Enjoy!

I'm totally loving this group. I've learned so much since I've been reading the posts here. Thank you all for the welcome.

So far I've learned about (and made) door magnets, learned to go get the Buzz Lightyear FP first thing in the morning, found reviews and menus for the restaurants, found out about and then bought the Passporter, checked out what bags the experts carry to the park...and so much more! Oh, and met some of our traveling companions....
