Regis philbin Leaving Live

I also thought Kelly and Jeff Probst had awesome chemisty. I love when he host the show

:thumbsup2

Although this really isn't a surprise given his age and amount of days off, I love Regis. He's like 'Grandpa' to me. So for me it is a little sad. The end of an era. For me, he IS "Regis and 'whomever' Live". But, I wish him well! I hope he has a great, and fullfilling life after "Regis" Live. As he said, he's not retiring, he's moving on...

I've been watching Regis & *Whomever* before Kathy Lee was on the show, when it was only an east coast program. To me, Regis symbolized "nostalgia", the beginning days of television, etc... He's been in the business forever. And the older I get, the more nostaligic I become. LOL

But I'm glad that he's retiring while he can still enjoy the time off, with his family. :grouphug:

This is exactly how I feel! I will be curious to see who replaces him permanantly. For now, I wouldn't mind them switching it up with guest co-hosts for a while. I wish Regis all the best!

I agree with you completely. I really love Regis & Kelly but it was time for him
to retire.

We just lost my grandpa last November; he had frontal lobe dementia, and sometimes when I watch Regis I see things I would see in Grandpa before he got really sick. I certainly don't want to diagnose him or anything, I hope he's healthy. But from someone who saw dementia up close & personal for over 10 years, his recent behavior has concerned me.

I hope he & his family have many more years together. :) God bless, Regis!

I know this won't be a popular statement but he was starting to remind me of a forgetful and addled old man-which is exactly what he is sometimes. I find him painful to watch when he says dumb stuff or isn't clear about what's going on. He needs to retire and rest on his laurels before he has no laurels. I LOVE Anderson Cooper and I think he'd be a great foil for Kelly. Mark should continue his career in made for TV movies and being a sub host once in a while. No married couple should have to work together every day and then go home together at night. Familiarity breeds contempt. Everyone needs a break-ok guys, I realize there are some of you who want to be with their spouse every single minute of every day and love it, lol! I could come close to it but even *I* need a break from my wonderful man. ;)

Why is it sad?

The man is very very wealthy, has has an incredible career, has a family, has had good health. why should he work every day? why shouldn't he retire. I personally think he should have retired 10-15 yrs ago. Let the next generation get their break like he did.

Enjoy your retirement!

Seriously he isn't leaving till Fall?

He and the Queen of England just can't believe someone else can do it and pass the reigns. It is time.

Maybe the poster just meant that they would miss him being on the show.

I agree, Regis has been at this a long time, and it must be an exhausting pace. I hope he goes on to enjoy himself for a good long time:thumbsup2

Granted, he's become a grouchy and forgetful old man, but I still love the guy. :)

It's going to be so weird without him but I can't wait to see who they decide to replace him with.

Now, Larry King? He should have retired 15 years ago!

I think since Larry King finally retired, Regis decided he can, too. They have both been around forever.

Anderson Cooper won't take over. He travels too much with his own show. His passion is uncovering news and digging deeper into situations other news outlets like to forget.

Sam Champion might be good. He first started as our local weather man and has really moved beyond that with Good Morning America, fill in stints and local hosting and emceeing for parades & such. But, he doesn't quite have the sparkly personality that someone like Neil Patrick Harris has.

I agree Mark shouldn't so it full time. I think that would be a disaster for their marriage. Plus, they couldn't take vacations together, as probably one would still need to be on the show with a fill-in host.

I think successful marriages that are also professionals in the business, like Stiller & Meara, work because they also take breaks from the business and from each other when they want to. They each carved out their own professional identities. Jerry Stiller was on Seinfeld for years, without needing to be joined at the hip with his wife.

I completely agree. I still enjoy Regis and what he and his rat-pack era history and experience bring to the show. He is different from most anyone else on TV because of his age.

I'm happy for him, but I will definitely miss him. It is the end of an era, and
is another reminder that all of us are getting older. I hope they don't go overboard with changing to attract more of the well-under-40 crowd, and abandon the 40 and up crowd.

I do love Kelly, though. I have liked her ever since she first appeared on All My Children. If it weren't for her or someone as likable as her, I might quit watching the show when Regis leaves.

It won't be the same without him. Not saying it will be worse. Just different. I'll miss seeing him. There was a poll of possible replacements earlier today on another site - either TMZ or E!. I voted for Kathy Griffin to replace him. It would be a completely different show if she was on, but funnier, I think.

Now, KELLY says she will have a BIG announcement tomm?? Hmm, what could it be??:confused3

Maybe Ill start watching again. I cant stand him. He interviews all the stars and has no idea who they are or what they are in. He is SO out of the loop, he should have retired a long time ago. He went on too long, past his prime.

Did you see when he interviewed the Twilight stars? "So your in a movie? Is it popular here in the US? "He obviously had never heard of Twilight or any of the stars. And he called Snookie Snoozy. He has no idea who any of the people on the show are. Time to retire.
