I drink from a bubbler.
soda is soda.
I wear tennies on my feet.
I eat a sub and drink a shake.
I push a shopping cart and put my groceries in a bag.
I have a glove box in my car.
Basements are under houses.
There are jimmies on my doughnut. They come in 2 varieties, chocolate jimmies and jimmies.

Yikes.....let me think here..

Tonic for soda
coke is coke
glove compartment
in line
jimmies are the chocolate sprinkles, would never think of rainbow ones
Frappes are milk shakes with ice cream, milk shakes are milk with flavoring
submarine sandwiches for subs or grinders
sneakers for all gym shoes or tennis shoes
bubbler for water fountain
shopping cart for carriage
going food shopping...not to the market but to the store.
it used to be the cellar(very Boston) when I was young, but now it is the basement

:thumbsup2 I agree with everything!

I remember when I first started going to Florida in the early 90s, no one knew what iced coffee was. :confused3 Once at Universal, they actually poured hot coffee over a cup of ice. The HORROR!!!!

 I live in Maine so here goes....
soda
Italians - not hoagies or subs
shopping cart
we bag our groceries
use both glove box and glove compartment
shakes not frappes
sneakers
cellar - not basement
stand in line
water fountain :sunny:

When I lived in FL it was the mid to late 90's. I had to drive 10 miles to get to Dunkin. Fortunately there's more of them in the Tampa area now.

They didn't understand the correct ordering lingo (regular or to my friend Vinny's dismay when he visited - no idea what extra extra was ). I've been to many places where they poured hot coffee over ice. WTH is that?

Don't even get me on the lack of coffee ice cream and no autocrat coffee syrup. It's funny how things that are such die hard regional staples are not available other places.

I say;

soda (then specify; Coke, Sprite, etc.)

grocery/shopping cart

glove compartment

I also say "in line" as opposed to "on line." Being on line is when you are signed into the computer and sending an email, posting on a message board or doing a Google. I stand "in line" to check out at the grocery store or at a hotel. I also wait in line at the DMV, etc.

A water fountain is just that, not a "bubbler."

A milk shake is ice cream, a little bit of milk and chocolate syrup. It is then blended together with that long stemmed thing they put the glass under to mix it all up. I never heard of a Frappe until I moved to New England.

I wear sneakers on my feet.

I eat Hoagies, not subs or heros.

(I grew up in Philly.)

Subs

Cart

In line, not on line

Glove compartment

Milk Shakes

Water Fountain

And here in Fl. We call a basement, a swimming pool. :teeth:

It's always coke and I'm a pepsi drinker.
I say glove compartment and box actually had never heard it called glove box until I moved here 20 yrs. ago.
Shopping cart but I hear people say buggy and my mom no matter where lived always said basket

I shop with a shopping cart, I bag my groceries. I drink from a water fountain.
I wear sneakers, drink shakes(not milkshakes, just shakes).

I go down the shore, but if I am in a shore town but not yet at the beach, then I say I'm going to the beach.

I get Italian heros, but meatball subs, but chicken parm sandwiches...

I say glove compartment, basement(though sometimes I'll say cellar), soda.

I do say I am on line when I mean that I am standing waiting for something.
I use in line also, but mostly on line.

Sofa or couch, doesn't matter to me.

Sprinkles not jimmies

Oh, here's one, we got "proofed" not carded when asked for ID.

We drink shots not shooters(I think that's what other people call them--what you drink out of little shot glasses at a bar).

We also used to call ATMs- MAC(like mack, no saying each letter) machines, now I usually say ATM, but sometimes will still say I have to go to the MAC machine.

When I ask for a soda I then specify which type...Pepsi, Orange, 7 UP, etc.

We eat grinders here in Vermont ;)

Glove box

Basement

Sprinkles on ice cream, chocolate or rainbow

Water fountain can be found at schools - water cooler is what I have at home at here at work
