What does everyone think about this? I know that USC is returning their copy of his Heisman Trophy but do you think Reggie Bush should return his as well? I'm sort of on the fence about it, and think he put the work in to get the award but he did accept gifts, some worth a lot of money. I tend to think the team should and is taking the brunt of the punishment but should he take responsibility as well? I wonder if he will be stripped of the award?

I hope lots of players are getting 'gifts'. The problem with college sports aren't the players or the agents. It's the system. Schools are making millions. Coachers are making millions. I bet the hesman club makes money.

I'm not saying the schools should give the Reggie Bushes money. But to ban him from getting money on his own, even while he's busting his buTt to make them rich???? And then to be upset when he did???? Give me a break.

USC feels they have to give Reggie's heisman back because he made a few bucks. But they are keeping OJ's

I'm a USC alum, so I'll give my 2 cents on this subject. Reggie Bush should lose the Heisman, in my opinion. I'm glad the University is returning their copy of it. And I'm glad that our new president forced out Mike Garrett out of his athletic director position. This entire story makes me so mad. I know so many universities are guilty of similar things and just don't get caught. I hope this sets an example for other people who think they are above the rules.

It's against NCAA rules to give gifts to athletes. They are trying to keep the sport clean. It's not working though.

Of course he should lose the Heisman.....He cheated, and essentially walked away without any other punishment --- much like Pete Carroll did as well.

Meanwhile, those left at USC have to clean up the mess and pay the price.

These athletes are being given something, a free college education, room and board and the training to make millions in the NFL. I think he should be stripped of the Heisman.

Are you kidding me. Tell me when during the season these kids even get to spend anytime in the classroom. When there on the road and have to travel for a Saturday game you can write Friday off. Most of the time these kids are robbed of there talent and never get the time they need in the classroom. The money the university makes off these kids is insane. When a coach pulls down million dollar conracts and other freebees the kids can't take a cup of coffee. It's time these kids get paid and get the education during the off season. While there playing football ...keep them out of the classroom and give them a pay check.

I think he should have to give back the Heisman and I think that Pete Caroll should be banned for a specific number of years from coaching at the college level after his coaching in the NFL flops.

He knew what was going on and ran like a thief in the night to the NFL because he knew the blade was going to drop on his head.

I had classmates that were on the football team at USC. They were usually in class. I personally do not think they should get paid until they are professional athletes.

I DESPISE USC - also known as University of Second Choice. But I love the Saints. So I am conflicted.

That is where i'm conflicted because it's not as if he was taking performance enhancing drugs, ie, cheating. He was getting to live in a house with his family free and probably drive around some nice cars. I guess I don't see how these things make one individual a better player, but I can see how the team could be stacked. It's sort of like the Yankees ;)

Yes he should lose the trophy & the title of being a Heisman.

Reggie knew he was breaking the rules & even denied it for years. Makes you wonder if he is breaking any now?

Some of the rules need to be tweaked, but in Reggies case it wasnt a minor infraction.

I wish they could go after Petey, he is a scum-bag & now the kids at USC have to pay for his actions.

I think they should ban the sunglasses & sheet music from their band ;)

Gifts did not affect they way he played. He still deserves the Heisman for his talent on the field.

I've never heard of us being called the University of Second Choice. But then again, we were ranked #1 by US News college issue the year I graduated. I won't say what year, but lets say it was a few years ago.;) Ok, dang it, I'm old!
I've heard us being called the University of Spoiled Children though. Not true with me. I come from poverty and had to fight tooth and nail to get my degree. I'm proud to be a trojan!

That's a Stanford phrase - referring to the usc students who didn't have a prayer of getting into Stanford.

USC became the butt of many Stanford jokes when they filed an official complaint with NCAA accusing Stanford of illegal recruitment tactics. Stanford actually had the audacity to promise an education!!!!

But he did cheat. He broke the rules.

I'm not a football fan, I went to a small university with a horrid team, the list could go on and on about how much I do not care or know about football...and yet I know that college players aren't supposed to take money.

He had to have known, he broke rules, and that is cheating. Therefore he needs to take the punishment.

My understanding is that under the circumstances, Reggie Bush should not have been eligible to play much less win the Heisman trophy b/c he broke the rules. If he really wasn't eligible, than he shouldn't get to keep it IMO.
